DPP #9151 at Krymska on Night Duty (Service #59),…

This was the second night tram shot I took, giving more detail, although I clearly would have been better off with my Nikon N80 and high-speed film (like ISO 1600).

Well, here it is, my first image of 2011, taken a couple of hours after midnight on the 1st of January. This photo, even if it is a cameraphone photo, holds several records for me. First of all, it's the earliest photo in the year that I've ever taken in Prague and posted online (although I have others from my Nikon N6006 which are earlier in the year in the strict sense, and others which I've never posted), its earlier in the year than any rail photo that I've ever taken, and it's my first-ever photo of one of Prague's night trams, in spite of my having taken them for years. Basically, between about 1230 and 0430, the night trams and night buses are the only services running in Prague, as the Metro is shut down (although services were recently extended a bit), so you're stuck with a bike or a cab (if you don't have a car, and having a car in Prague is generally stupid). I think I've seen all of the tram classes except for maybe the KT8's on night duties, but I still was expecting a Tatra T3 on this shot, as they're still the most numerous.

DPP #9156 at Sumavska, Prague, CZ, 2010

9156 is a Skoda 14t, which makes it the most modern class of tram currently in service in Prague, but not for long. Two Skoda 15t's, #'s 9200 and 9201 are already in testing, and I've spotted 9201 several times already. That church in the background is St. Ludmila's in Namesti Miru.

DPP #9170 at Podbaba, Prague, CZ, 2009

09 Dec 2009 307
I spent a lot of time also in 2009 photographing the tram traffic in and out of Podbaba, and in addition, the massive disruption caused by the scandalous Tunnel Blanka project ensured that the usual tram #8 wasn't the service terminating in Podbaba, as the reorganization of the routes meant that tram service #20 covered it instead. I also got to bash and observe most of the new Skoda 14t fleet, as by 2009 all of them had been delivered. This is #9170, the last of the fleet, as the next order will be for the newer and boxier Skoda 15t model.

DPP #9132 at Vitezne Namesti, Prague, CZ, 2009

Also at Vitezne Namesti, coming out of the roundabout (which the trams obviously cross at a right angle to each other, straight through it in all four directions), is Skoda 14t #9132, which I don't think I've posted a photo of yet.

Here's another shot of a 14t I don't think I've photographed before, #9165, parked at Podbaba.

I've been gradually trying to photograph the whole roster of Skoda 14t's, and 9169 was one of the most recent ones I got, sitting in Podbaba.

DPP #9111 at Podbaba, Prague, CZ, 2009

09 Aug 2009 286
I first took photos of 9111 when it was relatively new in 2006. This one, the prototype, had been delivered for testing in 2005, with 9112 soon to follow, and I managed to witness but not photograph the testing. It was in 2006 when production fully got underway, and the initial order for 20 trams was quickly expanded to 21, and then to 43. It has since been expanded still further to 60, numbered 9111-9170, although 9170 is expected to be the last. In any case, 9111 was the first, and when I first photographed it the original standard silver paint (for the 14t's) was still on it. Now it's been repainted into an advertising livery for Komercni Banka, with some other 14t's also being turned into advertising trams.

At the rear of the traffic jam was #9153, not a T3 but a Skoda 14t.

This wasn't my tram, but I wasn't sure if I had a photo of 9116 yet, so I took the shot.

This was another lucky shot of one of the new Skoda 14t trams, shot as I was walking through Kobylisy. #9166 isn't the newest one, but it's one of the newest, and when I shot this it was almost brand new.

DPP #9112 at Palmovka, Prague, CZ, 2009

By the time I shot this cameraphone image in Palmovka, the snow had finally melted. DPP #9112, the second Skoda 14t, now carries an advertising livery for BBC Fitness.

When I went to Radlicka soon after taking the Haje snow photos, the snow, albeit wet snow this time, was coming down again. Here #9140 with an unidentified T3, awaiting its next run.

DPP #8244 with Other Trams at Radlicka, Prague, CZ…

15 Jul 2009 1 1 375
Lately, I've been shooting more tram photos than ever before at Radlicka, where there's a turning loop and a Metro station (for Line B). Here we can see all but one of the current DPP tram classes, at least if you don't count the T3 variants. From left to right, 8244 is a Tatra T3M, 9150 is a Skoda 14t, and 8750 is a Tatra T6A5.
