Trail To Uhrineves, Milichovsky Les, Haje, Prague,…
10 Nov 2007 |
|
Here's another shot I took in Milichovsky Les, on the same trail that I took the other Milichov photos posted so far. I jog on this trail now, since discovering it, although I've never gone all the way to Uhrineves, as it's prettier to go to Kreslice, which is also not as far.
Firebugs On Tree, Milichovsky Les, Haje, Prague, C…

These are Pyrrhocoris Apterus....or just uh....Firebugs, one of the most common species of insect in Central Bohemia. These ones are uhhhh....doin stuff. :-) :-) :-) Bugs don't count, though (do they?), so if Flickr makes a stink about this it would be very amusing. :-) If they throw me off for this one I'm not sure if I'll care. I took this in Milichovsky Les in Haje, Prague.
Firebug, Milichovsky Les, Haje, Prague, CZ, 2007

|
Here's a detailed, if a bit overexposed, shot of a Pyrrhocoris Apterus (Firebug), taken on a stone bridge (I think) in Milichovsky Les in Haje, Prague. If I had had a proper Macro lens, as opposed to a macro zoom, I probably could have got a better shot, but I'm not going to worry about it.
Sidliste Haje From Milichovsky Rybnik, Haje, Pragu…

This is a rybnik, or pond, that borders Milichovsky Les and Sidliste Haje, and gives you a contrast between these two parts of Prague.
Cabin In Milichovsky Les, Haje, Prague, CZ, 2007
10 Nov 2007 |
|
Milichovsky Les is so much more rural than Sidliste Haje that I even found this cabin there. I have no idea who owns it, but it looks perfectly suitable as a cabin if you can ignore the sound of cars coming in and out of Haje a few hundred meters away.
Milichovsky Les Park Signs, Haje, Prague, CZ, 2007
10 Nov 2007 |
|
Just south of Sidliste Haje, at the southern border of the city, is this park, Milichovsky Les, which provides a striking contrast to Sidliste Haje. The trees mostly hide the Panelaks of the Sidliste, so that you would never know where you are if you didn't know the area. Notice that Kreslice, the nearest town to this part of Prague (although some maps consider it part of Praha 11, the street signs indicate that it's seperate, so I don't know who's really right), is only 2 Km. away. I don't know anything about Pitkovice, but Uhrineves is indisputably part of Prague.
Sun on Buildings, Sidliste Haje, Prague, CZ, 2007
10 Nov 2007 |
|
I saw this light and these colors while testing my N80 for the first time in March, and I knew I had to take this shot. These buildings are Panelak apartment blocks in Sidliste Haje, a Communist-era housing project in the south of Prague that has seen a lot of renovation and modernisation in recent years.
Forbes Arena, Sidliste Haje, Prague, CZ, 2007

|
Forbes Area is a casino...yeah...in Sidliste Haje, built by the Communists originally. I'm not aware of when Forbes itself was built, or what it was originally, but this is one of several photos that I have of it, taken in March of this year.
Dotted Light On A Panelak Sidliste Haje, Prague, C…
08 Nov 2007 |
|
This was a random shot that I took when I saw the opportunity. The sun was going down, and amazingly, even though there were no holes in the building and wall across the street, there was this amazing dotted light down the side of this building.
Contrails Over Sidliste Haje, Prague, CZ, 2007

Here's yet another shot of Sidliste Haje. This is the shopping area by the Metro station, but I'm absolutely addicted to that pair of buildings in the background with the bridge between them and the clock on the right building. I've always thought it was one of the coolest Communist-era buildings in the city, and probably among the most interesting Prague buildings of the second half of the 20th Century. Why? Look at it. :-)
Lada 1500 Parked In Sidliste Haje, Prague, CZ, 200…
08 Nov 2007 |
|
I rarely take car photos anymore, as I hate the car culture, but this is no ordinary automobile, comrade! This is a Lada 1500. :-) :-) :-) I don't know the year, but I know that these were introduced in 1966, and not significantly redesigned until the 1980s.
Dark Blue Winter, Picture 2, Sidliste Haje, Prague…

Here's another underexposed winter shot, this one taken in Sidliste Haje.
Building Clock, Sidliste Haje, Prague, CZ, 2006

Maybe this should really be entitled "Building Clocks," as there is also another one in the lower left hand corner that I didn't notice before. :-) I took this mainly for the composition.
Bush #3, 2006

|
This actually has nothing at all to do with that...man. :-)
In actuality, it gets its name from the photo I started with, "Yellow Bush," although this is a collage of at least five photos (I may be forgetting one or two of them). It is also not necessarily final. I may do more versions of it, but I'm not sure what possessed me to do it in the first place. I guess boredom and the capabilities of Adobe Photoshop. :-) If any of you out there like this, then maybe I'll do more.
Alleyway, Sidliste Haje, Prague, CZ, 2006

This photo looks a bit bleak, I know, but I shot it for the composition. It was from my first successful roll shot with my second Lomo 135BC.
Steps And Sky, Sidliste Haje, Prague, CZ, 2007
01 Sep 2007 |
|
This was a strictly experimental shot that I took in Sidliste Haje, like so many of my experimental shots there. I had to bracket this to get it right, and I think I ended up settling on f16 and 1/125, although I could be misremembering. I don't keep a notebook for the Lomo.
