CD Muzeum Locomotive #49, Luzna u Rakovnika, Bohem…

The museum also has a circle of narrow-gauge (the wider of the two gauges, if they indeed have more than one) track for running a tourist train for visitors. This locomotive appears to be a diesel-mechanical, but they had a few (inoperable) steam locomotives too.

The title is self explanatory. Otherwise, it only makes sense to explain this in response to questions, which would as often as not pertain to steam locomotives as Skoda 4-8-2s. :-)

Here you can get a better look at the valve gear and...uh....piston rod assembly on 498.022. Otherwise, questions would yield better info that my continuing to write this. :-)

This is was an injector looks like in the Czech Republic. :-) This one was made in Brno, as you can see stamped on it, although I don't know if SBS is a manufacturer or a model of injector.

I wasn't able to get a proper "firearms" view of the drivers on 498.022 because of all the people around, but I was able at least to get this shot.

This is 498.022's builder plate, indicating that it was built at Skoda's Plzen works in 1947. The winged arrow logo above it is the Skoda logo.

This was after 498.022 had buffered up to the train again and was being coupled for the trip back out.

NRHS Excursion Train, Sherburne, NY, USA, 1990

This is my oldest photo on Flickr!! I scanned it with my black and white Caere Omniscan, but it was originally in color, and I have every intention of eventually getting a color scan. I think I already one somewhere, if the drive it was on hasn't been wiped by one thing or another. This was my first National Railway Historical Society excursion while actually a member, and it was sometime in the summer of 1990. We went from Utica, NY to Sherburne, and had a really good time. Notice the dome cars on the train! The locomotive was at that time the last operating ALCO C430, but in reality a few have been bouncing in and out of service, including this one, and they're heavily rebuilt by now, especially this one!!

I took this shot at Holt station on the North Norfolk Railway, along with a roll of other black and whites that I took that day. This was my second visit to the North Norfolk Railway, which was done precisely to shoot photos, and in particular black and whites.

I took this during a photo runby while riding an NRHS Convention Special from Syracuse to Chanango Forks, New York in 1998. We never made it all the way to Binghamton, as the excursion ran so late that we lost our path, but a good time was had by all. Regrettably, I can't remember exactly where this runby was, so any info from other attendees would be welcome (it was probably the one at Tully depicted in another one of my photos on my website www.jonsearlesphoto.co.nr).

Here's the rear end of our train, looking around the curve and into the tunnel in the opposite direction, even further away from Prague than Krivoklat. :-)

This shot gives an impression of the immense size of our train. You actually can't see it all here, as three cars are behind me, and many more are hidden around the curve up ahead. All that you can see of 498.022 is the water vapor plume.
