Radnice, Edited Version, Melnik, Bohemia (CZ), 201…

Here are the Melnik radnice photos, as promised. Supposedly this site has been used for the radnice since 1449, although the site has the magistrat as far back as 1398, and the current building dates to 1793. This 1793 radnice was also rebuilt in 1889 and 1941, so even it isn't completely original. Other than this, I've had trouble finding much information about it.

Cannonballs at the Munchner Stadtmuseum, Munchen (…

30 Jul 2010 1 1 401
I'm not sure which era these cannonballs were from, but they appeared to be stone (this may have been an optical illusion), which could mean either that they were very, very old, or simply that they were replicas. I did note that they were mortared together, although this might have been to prevent vandalism.

The Munchner Stadtmuseum, as the name suggests, is the city museum of Munich, with exhibits concentrating on art and history, but more history. Categories of exhibit include musical instruments and carnival games and puppetry, as well as a general collection of artifacts from each era of Munich's history.

New York City, New York, USA, 2009

17 Jan 2010 293
This is maybe my best-ever photo of New York City, taken from our A330 as it approached Newark. The only editing I had to do on it was up the contrast, as the plastic airliner window generally wrecked the contrast on all my aerials this trip (ice may have had as much to do with this as the plastic). You can see the Empire State Building in the rear center of the shot, and if I'm not mistaken the river is the Hudson, since we were on approach to Newark on this flight.

Radnice, Kladno, Bohemia (CZ), 2009

18 Dec 2009 232
Here's the old Radnice, or town hall, of Kladno, constructed in 1898, is considered neo-Rennaissance in style. The architect was named Jan Vejrych, which brings up the question of whether he could have been related to Jan Werich, the actor and comedian.

Radnice, Liberec, Liberecky Kraj, Bohemia(CZ), 200…

The radnice, or city hall, in Liberec is one of the city's most notable landmarks, and frequently appears in encyclopedia entries and travel guides. Built in 1893, it looks a lot older, of course, as it isn't common to find something so recent that features so much detail. :-)

Hofkirche & Residenzschloss, Dresden, Sachsen (Sax…

The Residenzschloss is the City Hall for Dresden, and the Hofskirche (Church of the Holy Cross) is right next door (you can only see the rear of it here). The statue is cool, too, but ultimately I took this shot for the overall detail and complexity. It is, in its own way, beautiful.

City Museum, Olomouc, Moravia (CZ), 2006

Here you can see the Olomouc City Museum on the left and St. Vaclav's (St. Wenceslas's) Cathedral in the distance.

Tatra T3 Tram, Olomouc, Moravia (CZ), 2006

I unfortunately I didn't get the number of this tram, but it works for the transit agency of the city of Olomouc, Moravia, in the Czech Republic, and it's a Tatra T3, I know that much. The building to the right of it is the city museum of Olomouc.
