Taken from near the front of my flat, last year. The building with the rounded frontage is a famous Madrid music school. Even though my flat is some way behind the front entrance of the block (which contains 288 flats), agreeable wafts of music can often be heard!
Look at the date (30/08). In the UK it would be typical weather for the Late Summer Bank Holiday!
I can't say I felt homesick because of it!
An internal (2nd) HFF everyone!

Jardín de Nuevos Ministerios. I think it represents watercraft but the notes were impossible to read at that angle and in the etremely bright light.
Nuevos Ministerios, Designed by renowned architect Secundino Zuarzo in the 1920s but building work was delayed by the civil war And in the 1940s, Franco wanted changes along more traditional lines so what you see is a mix of art deco and late 19th century norms, It actually seems to work!
End of summer

Another one of this arresting edifice. I do rather like it and it is only a couple of minutes walk from my front door, so it appears quite often here!
Now government offices.

I was a little bit puzzled ... until I noticed an official looking notice (no notes or info about this cute looking little thing though) high on a wall. Then I understood. These artefacts are all placed in front of the Ministry of SIlly Walks!
(I'm kidding; its the Ministry of Transport and Public Works!)

From the public gardens of the Canal de Isabel II (a waterworks company) across Calle Santa Engracia (my street) and to 'Fire Station Number I, Madrid', the oldest fire station (1892).
The light was very bright that day and the pollution non-existant (still far fewer cars on the roads and far fewer planes above - in fact last week I heard a noise and thought; 'what on Earth is that?' ... Of course it was the near-forgotten sound of an aircraft!!)
