Colombia Metro Station, Madrid.
I just LIKE this station. They didn't have to do this but I'm pleased they did.
Just about every other metro station has something of interest to see, admire, like, enjoy the vibrant colours of, etc!

90% of the bus station is on 3 levels below ground here. It's one of the major transport interchange stations for all points north of Madrid.
Norman Foster's Torre Cepsa (the tallest building in Spain) is in the distance.

Atocha Station, Madrid.
I had just alighted form this train and had been travelling on the upper deck.

Sol station was on the original Metro line 1 (100 years anniversary this year). I knew it well from the 1980s. When I came to teach in Madrid 25 years later, I wasn't aware that it had also become a mainline station and a new line linked the termini of Chamartin in the north and Atocha in the south. If I'd been aware of it I could have saved 100s of hours of unpaid travel time! DOH!

The Madrid metro system abounds with long walkways between lines. This one from Acacias station on line 5 to Embajadores on line 3. Someone mentioned that Paris is even worse. In both Paris and Madrid, what seems like a simple change between lines on the map can actually mean a 10 minute walk!
I last walked here 4 years ago when I had a class at Acacias. Then the walls were crawling with cockroaches and pools of stagnant water lay around everywhere. An unpleasant place. I was pleased to see it had been spruced up since then!

metro and mainline station. The mainline trains run horizontally along the raised track (across the centre of the pic, I couldn't wait any longer for a train as I would have been late for a class!) and the metro trains are below (which kind of makes sense!).

There is a logical explanation for this sculpture which was noted on my Pano upload of this shot but which was stolen by Google and I can't now remember what it is!
Anyway I find the effect quite surreal!
HFF!!!! ... OK, I'm stretching it a little bit! :o…

Again, Google stole my notes on this old Pano shot and I initially forgot which metro station this belongs to. My friend Campayo came to the rescue and reminded me that it is Pueblo Nuevo metro station!
However I have lost my notes regarding the artist. Gato Land please help! I know you knew the artist!
