Granite, heather, rocky headland and a very calm sea. A perect summer's day in Cornwall. Between Porthcurno and Penberth Cove. For Pam.

The only thing missing here is a lovely Cornish pub! However, if you are thirsty enough to undergo a 25 minute trudge uphill, you can reward yourself with an energy re-charging and refreshing pint of bitter at The Logan Rock pub in Treen.

Near Penberth Cove, Cornwall. For Pam. The two intrepid walkers seen here were American students and passionate long-distance pathers! They had already done over half of the Coastpath in astounding time (I can't remember more details, Google stole my notes as well as my photos in 2016!). I think I come here often but this August 2015 visit was the last time. Time flies.

Just possible to visit this isolated cove by car but far better to visit on foot on the South West peninsula Coast Path! And I should also say R.I.P. Rosamunde Pilcher (not that I knew her but I did know her son in Zennor). Best viewed large! For Pam.

I got chatting to the two walkers seen at the bottom of the photo. They were walking the entire Cornwall section of the South West Peninsula Coast Path and had given themselves 6 weeks to do it with the odd week's rest here and there! They looked fit, seemed determined and were over half way round and at about half way in terms of their allotted time frame! I have no doubt they succeeded, and in time to get back to Stanford University where they were both studying for their MBAs. I told them that I had helped Spanish students with their MBA applications to Stanford, Yale, Duke and Harvard - which had to be in English of course. I was pleased to report that I had helped one candidate into Stanford, one to Duke and another to Yale! However the Harvard MBA programme candidate was never going to get on the programme (but I got my fee anyway!). OK, program (not programme) as these were all US MBA courses!

H. A. N. W. E. everyone! The Cornish coast near Penberth Cove, for Pam. This shot, if not better, then certainly different, on full screen!

Between Logan Rock and Penberth Cove, some excellent granite cliff scenery is to be had! Faintly on the horizon can be seen the western coastline of The Lizard Peninsula from Praa Sands on the left, past Mullion Cove in the centre to Kynance Cove on the right. I haven't visited these places since I had a camera and had hoped to do so this summer. Alas, it will have to wait another year!

That neolithic cliff-top tomb again!

Near Penberth Cove. The montbretia is lovely but a non-native invasive species - as is the bracken, introduced as fodder by the Romans (but then I suppose we all are when one comes to stop and think about it!)

Cornish coast near Penberth Cove. Black and on full screen please. You can then just about make out the Lizard Peninsula in the very far distance (the southernmost point in the United Kingdom). This shot is taken approx 5 miles from Land's End, (the most westerly point of England) These geographical niceties matter!

Another shot of the best positioned tomb ever!

Prehistoric and brilliant. Unfortunately there are no contents now - tomb robbers very soon after and wild weather down the centuries cleaned this out but still ... What a terrific site for a tomb! Obviously someone much loved (or feared?)
