The Moselle is 544 kilometres long and has its source in the southern Vosges Mountains in France at an altitude of 744 metres above sea level. The course of the river takes it through France and Luxembourg to Germany, where it then flows into the Rhine at 59 metres above sea level at the Deutsches Eck near Koblenz.
