Muslim Cham people are an ethnic group of Austronesian origin in Southeast Asia come usually from Cambodia, Many of the were abduct in the 19th cent. to digger out the Khlong around Bangkok. Cham people remain living beside the Khlongs which were dredged out on the order of King Rama III during a conflict between Siam and Annam over Cambodia (1837).
