Robbie I

Robbie

Our dog isn’t the least important member of our family (that’s me), and his pictures outnumber ours, so he gets his own album.

Robbie I

For some mysterious reason, my wife gets mad when she enters the bedroom after breakfast and finds Robbie resting on her pillow. She rarely forgets removing it beforehand, but if she does... Robbie knows what is expected from him, and I take a picture.

Robbie II

Evening Walk

It’s no secret: Robbie likes to take something from his walks –a twig, a fir cone –, but I have never before seen him this ambitious... The branch was about three meters long. Robbie tried really hard, but had to give up in the end.

Robbie on the watch

The small Dutch village of Oostknollendam is full of cats asking to be eaten ... tantalizing! The reversed ear is of his own doing: he likes to show off his tattoos.

Wieskirche near Steingaden

While Robbie was held by this unknown young lady, an anonymous gentleman was trying to take a picture of him. Well, that’s not as easy as it may seem to the profane and inexperienced...

Schongau - Robbie

Schongau is a town of many charms. One of these lasted only a few hours: Robbie.

Cora and Robbie

Last Friday, the day before our return to Germany. It was cold, wet, and windy. I wonder why so few people wanted to join us on our walk along the seaside. Here you can see only half of the sand; the rest came out of our shoes back home.

Mantua

03 Sep 2008 2 4 403
A long wait on a park bench near the Palazzo Te, Mantua. While I tried not to look into the camera, Robbie tried to do exactly the opposite. It would have been nice if we had succeeded both.

It is rather strange to see someone climbing over a fence. It is even stranger to see him preparing for that feat by taking a photograph.

Drama1

02 Jun 2011 1 2 356
Drama? All we see here is a dachshund smelling something. Something? Let’s call it a cat. A cat in a tree. The real drama is the dachshund not knowing where the smell comes from, and not being able to reach its source if he knew.

Robbie waiting at Ingolstadt

Shot, so to speak, from the hip, so only one out of five pictures was actually focused on him, and the rest needed to be trashed.

Sentimental Journey

13 Sep 2008 1 3 718
Robbie in Neuburg/Donau. He used to live here before we got him, which was the main reason for us not to visit that town. If we do, dogs must have their traumas too, we thought. After more than seven years, the time was ripe to break the spell. We observed him closely: Would he recognize anything? Sometimes, it seemed he did, and sometimes not... Anyway, we’re fairly certain that he doesn’t need therapy.

Robbie making friends in Ferrara

There’s no reason to believe that Robbie recognized the oversize portrayal, but he definitely smelled the pet shop behind it.

Waiting in Ferrara

28 Aug 2007 1 5 493
One of those typical scenes... Robbie’s line firmly wound around my thigh (just in case he’ll detect an enemy earlier than I do). A nap of water (have I told you it was VERY HOT in Ferrara?). Waiting. In this case, we were waiting under the bell tower of Ferrara Cathedral. If I don’t look particularly happy, it must have been because something was missing... A cigar? Ah, wait a minute...

Waiting in Trier

For taking pictures, some photographers may rely on inspiration –I rely on boredom.

Bressanone/Brixen

Part of the fun of taking photographs is to prove that you’ve been somewhere. Well, this picture doesn’t exactly prove that I was in Bressanone, but Robbie clearly was. Isn’t it nice to see the Alps from the other, the right side?

Not an oistrich

18 Nov 2007 1 6 1067
They say oistriches hide their heads in the sand in case of imminent danger... That may be something for oistriches, not for a fearless dachshund. However, during many a winter, experience has taught Robbie that the most interesting things can be found under the snow. It’s about 4-6 inches thick, and still comfortable for him. With more snow, he has to move by jumping, which he can’t keep up for long.
