Das erinnert mich an die Zeit, wo ich noch Studentin war und viele deutsche Buecher lesen konnte ! Jetzt ist es mir viel schwerer geworden !!!! Eine schoene Idee fuer das Thema, Ulrich ! Wuensche dir einen frischen Samstag !!!

belle idée Ulrich. Chaque pays à son génie propre ! A mon adolescence j' ai eu ma période " littérature allemande" ! je lisais avec avidité ( en traduction française ) les poèmes de Eichendorf , Stefan George , Gottfried Benn....et d' autres. Dernièrement j' ai essayé de relire " Les enfants Jeromine" de Ernst Wiechert ; j' avais beaucoup aimé ce livre . Malheureusement quand j' ai voulu le relire , il m' est tombé des mains ! nous goûts changent :-) Mais pour moi le génie de l' Allemagne c' est la musique !

Hi Ulrich,
I get Heine and even Schiller ... but like most Britons, Goethe totally baffles me!, Faust passes way over our heads and has little appeal. Other things I have read (short extracts as I don't 'get' Goethe at all), simply confirm my first impressions. It's something most Brions find!
I did enjoy Hermann Hesse when I was about 13 and 14, but not since. Berthold Brecht is interesting but I confess to never having read Koestler or Mann or Böll (sorry!).
But I like the shot and composition and sentiment behind it!
