And you wondered if I use a ringflash. No it's similar but actually a Twin Lite from Canon

At one point we had enough money to play around with toys and he bought this amazing macro flash. It's really cool to use!!

Many thanks for all your kind comments. Yes, in Australia we are fortunate to have a huge range of interesting birds. I've never thought of myself as a 'birder', let alone a 'twitcher', but I do seem to have developed a real interest in trying to photograph the many species. As you may have guessed, I'm currently in the process of migrating my bird album across from the other site. Have a great weekend.
