Thank you to all who have given such kind comments. A few quick responses. These banksia flowers are commonly known as bottlebrush - there are several types, with variations in the flowers. I'll post a photo of one. I'll cheerfully admit to not having read or viewed Harry Potter, but yes, this is a real wattlebird. :) There also are others with that name (I'll get to another soon).

Thank you Richard, the banksias are in their early flowering at present and the birds are very busy. :)
