Ein letzter Blick auf das St. Josef Krankenhaus in meiner Heimatstadt, bevor es abgerissen wurde. Aus Kostengründen wurde es 2013 geschlossen und im letzten Jahr abgerissen. Immerhin entsteht an der selben Stelle jetzt ein Gesundheitscampus mit verschiedenen Arztpraxen und neuem Wohnraum, dennoch ist es bei einer Einwohnerzahl von fast 44.000 schwer nachvollziehbar, warum man bei gesundheitlichen Problemen immer in die Krankenhäuser der Nachbarstädte fahren muß.

A last view onto the St. Josef Hospital in my home town shortly before it was demolished. Closed down due to financial reasons in 2013 it was knocked down last year. At least they currently build a brand new medical centre with several medical practices as well as new housing at the same place, though it is hardly understandable why citizens of a town with a population of almost 44,000 always have to go to the hospitals in the neighbouring cities.

Die Fassade war übrigens ursprünglich mit dunkelgrauen Schieferplatten verkleidet und bis zuletzt noch sehr gut erhalten.

Das gibt es bei uns auch : kleine Krankenhäuser werden zugemacht, weil sie nicht mehr rentabel sind !! Da fragt man sich, wie "rentabel" mit Gesundheit zusammen hängt !! HFF Karin und ein schönes Wochenende.

Wie Rentabilität und Gesundheit zusammenpassen frage ich mich auch jedes Mal. Da nach Schließung unseres Krankenhauses die Patienten erst einmal auf das nächstgelegene in der unmittelbaren Nachbarstadt ausgewichen sind, führte das anfangs dazu, dass die Patienten auf den Gängen liegen mussten, weil nicht genügend Platz da war. Auch wenn dort inzwischen die Kapazitäten aufgestockt wurden, keine schöne Vorstellung...

Rentabel = Kapitalismus. Unser System ist eben profitorientiert. Das sich der Staat um die Grundbedürfnisse des Menschen auch kümmern muss, wenn es nicht profitabel ist, hat da nicht Platz.

This seems to be the same problem everywhere. Although the German healthcare system is regarded as one of the best worldwide, most Germans don't agree with it. We all suffer from cost-cutting measures, lack of certain medicines or treatments and especially the healthcare personnel has to take the blame for it. I hope the Corona crisis will at least make a change in some politicians' minds to the better.

We have the same problems here Karin. We have a perfectly good and newish hospital at he other end of town but apart from the odd clinic they don;t seem to do a lot and we still have to travel miles for appointments and treatment.

At least I strongly hope that soon we will have some sorely missed specialists again like orthopaedists, ophthalmologists, etc.
As for the weekend, I actually will be visiting some abandoned municipal baths during an official photo tour. No cooling down there, but a chance for some unique photo motifs :-)

Das Gebäude sieht eigentlich noch nicht so alt aus. Und es hat ja bei der Errichtung auch Geld gekostet. Hier werden Werte und die Gesundheitsversorgung eines Ortes vernichtet.
