One of these nights, Madame Luna found the sun's golden veil and tried it on and liked it so much that she wanted to keep it, and so it came that the other day the sun had to appear undressed and looked like a paper moon on a cold winter sky - and since all living beings missed her golden daylight and the moon's silver glow, Luna had to return the golden veil. But every now and then she cannot resist and tries it on again, just for a few hours.

Those who do not know better say it's just a side-effect of smog.
