Langstone Harbour Houses (+PiP)

Must be a funny feeling having the water come and go in front of your house, but definately a fine place!

I suppose you'd get used to being so close to the water..........most of the houses have been flooded at some stage in the past and nowadays they're well equipped and prepared.

I've always wanted to live there TOZ, since I was a kid...........but there's no way I could afford the houses in this area!

The Ship Inn serves great food as well as being a decent pub too. It's a very popular place.

A lovely view, to live I'm not so sure a high tide and a strong wind perhaps not so good

The houses have a splendid view across the harbour Peter. The high tides can be pretty scary and most of the houses have been flooded at some stage in the past but nowadays they're well equipped and prepared.

You're quite right of course Güni...........and it's a very beautiful place to visit, especially in the summer months. I've wanted to live there since I was a kid...........but there's no way I could afford the houses in this area!

When I was in Portsmouth last year, I read somewhere that during WW II Langstone Harbour was used as Starfish decoy site to misdirect German bombers.

You're quite right Christa.........Portsmouth was, an important target being the home of the Royal Navy and a major ship building site, so it was made a priority to be kept as safe as possible.

A very pretty place indeed, Keith. Living by the seaside has always been a dream of mine since I left St.Andrews when I was a child of 12. That dream will never come to fruition, but we visit often. I believe the housing market in the town is one of the highest priced, if not the highest priced, in Scotland.

It's one of my favourite places to walk and take photos Amelia.........I've been going there since I was about 5 years old.

I feel so sorry for the people who are trying to get a house of their own nowadays :-((

Langstone is a very beautiful location........and the houses are lovely. The views across the harbour are magnificent. It's one of my favourite places to visit with my camera and quite close to where I live.

Wie sehr die Gezeiten die Landschaft verändern. Die hübschen Häuser haben eine sehr schöne Lage. Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass sie schwer zu erwerben sind. Aber was wäre die Welt langweilig ohne Träume.
