Pre Reformation! HWW!
St Mary's old church & cemetery, Kilmuir, Dunvegan, Isle of Skye.
The church was built in 1694 -- the date is inscribed on a stone over the north door -- to replace an older medieval church that served as the parish church for the Duirinish region of northern Skye.
The most striking memorial inside the burial ground is a large ashlar obelisk commemorating Lord Thomas Fraser, 10th Lord Lovat, who died in 1699
For clarity, a large view would be appreciated, HWW!

Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Nicole Merdrignac clubI like this picture very much!
It is a very different composition, and amazing to see it has stood for so long without the stones being nicked / repurposed into something else.
Fantastic colours too
Best Wishes, HWW,, and stay safe!!
Peter
Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Peter_Private_Box clubThis ruin is within a community and on a main road, so has benefitted from better protection than many more remote churches!

Roger (Grisly) club has replied to William Sutherland clubRoger (Grisly) club has replied to Joe, Son of the Rock clubThis church style must have been popular because from memory, the churches at Trumpan and the Church of Gilchrist on the Broadford to Elgol road are also very similar!

Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Jocelyne Villoing clubThe ruins of this beautiful church and cemetery look superb in the sunshine..........and the surrounding landscape is really lovely. I really like the detail you've captured and the vibrant green of the grasses. A lovely sky too!
Beautifully composed and taken Roger!
Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Keith Burton clubThe island appears to have a plethora of abandoned churches, mainly in this style, probably because of the clan system and immigrants from across the Irish Sea!
Keith Burton club has replied to Roger (Grisly) clubI've only been to Skye a couple of times, but I wish I stayed longer each time..........I see photos like yours and realise there was so much I didn't get to see!
