Let the Bells Ring Out!
A display in a local garden centre, Merry Christmas to one and all!
Large may be good!
And finally a musical link, www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJPc7esgvsA
Storm of the Day
An image across Loch Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye as a storm sweeps in,
Attempts to photograph landscapes on the "Misty Isle" means almost always keeping an eye on the weather, especially with the speed storms travel on the island,
Loch Dunvegan is a sea loch on the west coast of the island, which a part of the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The island in the foreground is "Garbh Eilein" and the distant high point is unnamed and 314m high.
Lister!
Forty shades of rust to this elderly looking farm machine, parked or, abandoned just above Lochan Lunn Da-Bhra which is on the final section of the 154 km long, West Highland Way, a long distance walk which runs from Milngavie north of Glasgow to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands, HFF!
Home Town Walls,
West Quay, Bridgwater, The Fountain Inn, (note the date at the top), next building for many years had a dance venue on the first floor, the sign built into the brickwork lists it as the "Fisherman's Wharf" but known locally as "Oddfellows Hall" further down the green building was another pub "Kings Head"
Merchant ships tied up on both sides of the river and steps for access can be seen built into the wall!
A short history for anyone interested, bridgwater-tc.gov.uk/history/river-shipping/bridgwater-shipping
A large view is best for details.
Waiting for the tide.
Porlock Weir , West Somerset, on the Bristol Channel Coast, where Exmoor meets the sea,
Few takers for the seating as it is still February with a coastal chill in the air! HBM!
May I suggest a large view for details!
Island Link!
A sunny June afternoon As the Caledonian-McBrain (cal-mac) ferry "Loch Fyne" arrives at the mainland port of Mallaig, after a 30minute journey form Armadale on the Isle of Skye.
"Loch Fyne" has a capicity of 200 passengers and 36 cars,
Having driven The Road to the Isles from Fort William were waiting to drive aboard for a pleasant trip across the Sound of Sleat and a few days on the island!
HFF and a great weekend!
Number 8!
Cairnbaan, Lock On the Crinan Canal, The canal has 15 locks and 7 bridges and runs from Ardrishaig on Loch Gilp in the east to Crinan on the Sound of Jura at the western end.
Opened in 1908, the 9-mile canal was built to provide fast travel for boats from Glasgow to Oban, bypassing the often dangerous Mull of Kintyre.
The canal is very busy during the summer months and a lock-side seat is perfect for just watching the boats,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Large for detail!
HBM and a good new week,
Fallen Moon in Daylight! (2 Pips)
The inner basin of Bridgwater Docks, this is now a marina waiting for renovations to start,
The lock gates in the foreground marks the start of the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal at the other end (behind the moon) is a link to the outer basin and entrance to the River Parrett,
Historic Port of Bridgwater that was operational between 1845 and 1971 (although boats operated from 1348),
Pip1 = Banner about the artist, Pip 2 = The moon at night! HFF!
A memory for George!
Main Street East (on the left) and Main Street West (on the right ) plus Front St , Inveraray. with the towns church in the distance,
HWW! a large view perhaps
Established in 1745 by the 3rd Duke of Argyll, head of the powerful Clan Campbell, the town is an absolute set piece of Scottish Georgian architecture.
