The Good Book

The Good Book - Shelves filled with books line the aisles of a cozy bookstore in Chicago, Illinois, while a person sits reading by a window with a view of the street and trees outside. Soft lighting creates a calm ambiance, perfect for getting lost in a book. Copyright 2009 Frank J Casella. www.frankjcasella.ipernity.com

New Year. New Program.

A narrow path is carved through towering snowbanks in mid-west America, illuminated by bright sunlight. The surrounding area is filled with trees and residential houses, creating a wintry neighborhood scene. New Year. New Program. It’s common to find people start off a new year with a new resolution, program, or project. It’s also common to hear weeks later how they gave it up, or are just not doing it anymore. I no longer do any of this, because I have found that I set myself up with too high expectations. The best way I have found to start with a new direction in life is to just develop good habits slowly. In the words of Tom Ziglar goes something like, "the fastest way to success is to replace bad habits with good habits. " In the artist world that I am involved in, for example, there blooms 365 day projects. I’ve done these before, and by the end of the project you’re glad to no longer have to do it. This is because my/our goal becomes to determine our success by comparing our self to others, rather we determine our success by comparing our accomplishments to our capabilities. This way it’s more digestible, and becomes a process instead of a project. Life is a work in progress, and so should our process be to become the best version of ourselves that God made us to be. Enjoy your day. Thank you for reading. Photo: New Year. New Program. Copyright 2011 Frank J Casella. www.frankjcasella.ipernity.com

Wind in the Autumn Wetlands - Black and White

A serene boardwalk curves alongside a tranquil body of water, bordered by tall reeds under a sky dotted with fluffy clouds. Bare trees line the path, adding to the peaceful atmosphere of the scene. The clouds moving as fast as the rippled waters, make for a windy day at sunset. Made at the Homewood Izaak Walton Preserve in Illinois - USA.
