... on le voit endormi au soleil de l'après-mid d'une douce journée d'été, avec ses belles maisons de pierre et l'église Saint Pierre (XIIe et XVe siècles). La colline du même nom (Mont-Dol) s'élève à 65 m, et est située au centre de la commune; elle est principalement composée de pierre granitique vieille de 525 millions d'années. Autrefois, le Mont-Dol était une île, à cette époque il ressemblait au Mont-Saint-Michel, mais la mer s'est retirée en l'an 709. Entre 1872 et 1874 un site préhistorique y a été fouillé, des traces de Néandertaliens vieux d'environ 110 000 ans y ont été trouvées.

ON ARRIVAL IN THE VILLAGE ... you can see it lying asleep in the afternoon sun on a mild summer day, with its beautiful stone houses and the church Saint Pierre (12th and 15th C.). The hill with the same name (Mont-Dol) is 65 m high and is located in the center of the village; it consists mainly of 525 million year old granite stone. Mont-Dol used to be an island that looked like Mont-Saint-Michel at the time, but the sea retreated in 709. Between 1872 and 1874, a prehistoric site was excavated there where about 110,000 years old traces of Neanderthals were found.

Der gleichnamige Hügel (Mont-Dol) ist 65 m hoch und befindet sich in der Dorfmitte; er besteht hauptsächlich aus 525 Millionen Jahre altem Granitstein. Mont-Dol war früher eine Insel, die damals aussah wie der Mont-Saint-Michel, doch das Meer hat sich im Jahr 709 zurückgezogen. Zwischen 1872 und 1874 wurde dort eine prähistorische Stätte ausgegraben, wo etwa 110 000 Jahre alte Spuren von Neandertalern gefunden wurden.
