Best Ager - I am 70 and feel like 25

Zum 70. Geburtstag der Zeitschrift Neues Deutschland, ehemals das Zentralorgan der DDR, wurde am Verlagshaus in Berlin-Friedrichshain dieses Plakat aufgehängt. Die Auflage des Blattes sinkt beharrlich, von einer Million vor der Wende auf 34.000 jetzt. Die Leser, großteils männlich, weiß, ostdeutsch und um die 60, sterben dem Blatt weg. Der jetzige Chefredakteur Tom Strohschneider konnte den rapiden Absturz der Zeitung auch nicht aufhalten.

On the 70th anniversary of the German magazine Neues Deutschland this poster was hung at the publishing house in Berlin-Friedrichshain. 1946-1989 the newspaper was the central organ of the Socialist Unity Party (SED) in the GDR. The edition of the newspaper decreases persistently, from one million before the turnaround in Germany to 34,000 now. The readers, mostly male, white, east german and around 60 years old, are dying gradually. The current chief editor Tom Strohschneider could not stop the rapid fall of the newspaper.
