This morning in St. Johann in Tyrol (Austria), the place where I live. (View from the Weitau to Kaiser Mountains.) I admit: This was the only maple tree with red leafs, which I found. All the other were still yellow or green. ~~~~~ Heute morgen in St. Johann in Tirol. (Blick von der Weitau auf den Wilden Kaiser.) Zugegebenermaßen war das der einzige auffindbare Ahornbaum mit roten Blättern weit und bereit. Alle anderen waren noch nicht so weit.

Today (2016-11-07 / 02:12 p.m.) in Tyrol. "As deep as the knees of a mouse" my wife always quips, when I'm pleased about the first snow. (She is a native Tyrolian, I am from Northern Germany.) ~~~~~ "Mäuseknietief" ist die spöttelnde Antwort meiner Frau, wenn ich mich als Norddeutscher über die erste geschlossene Schneedecke freue.

This morning while going back from my garage. (In Austria you MUST have installed snow tyres at your car while driving between 1st of November and 15th of April "at wintry conditions". Of course many people miss that date. Me too, because I was on Malta at that time.) ~~~~ Heute früh beim Fußmarsch von meiner Autowerkstatt nach Hause. (In Österreich dürfen PKWs zwischen dem 1.November und 15. April "bei winterlichen Verhältnissen" nur dann "in Betrieb genommen" werden, wenn auf allen vier Rädern Winterreifen montiert sind. You don't believe: This horse didn't move an inch all over the time, while capturing the pictures. (Normally horses are very courious - and there were ten of them within this gate, most of them always urging between my camera and this poor animal. ~~~~~ Dieses arme Geschöpft hat sich während der ganzen Zeit, wo ich um das Gatter herumgegangen bin, um einen guten Bildwinkel zu finden, nicht einen Millimeter bewegt. What is it good for? Some weeks later nobody will see it under the snow. ~~~~~ "Aufräumen, wozu? In ein paar Wochen sieht das sowieso keiner mehr unter der Schneedecke.

Not the horse with the rug - I'll never go inside a paddock - but a friend of the brown and just as curious! ~~~~~ Nicht das Pferd mit der Decke - ich werd mich hüten, den Paddock zu betreten - sondern ein Freund des Braunen und genauso neugierig.

At the beginning of February, 2012: Snow depth of 128 cm. (View from our living room with a feeling like beeing souterrain.) ~~~~~ Anfang Februar 2012, ebenfalls aus unserem Wohnzimmerfenster: Schneehöhe 128 cm. Wir saßen dort schon fast wie im Souterrain.

Not really a fence, but a barrier tape with the same function. I hope, it ist accepted as well (?). ~~~~~ Kein Zaun, aber ein Absperrband mit der gleichen Funktion. Ich hoffe, dass das auch ok ist (?).

Today (2016-11-07 / 02:39 p.m.) in North Tyrol (Austria). (Quick shot out of the window from my working place with 180mm äquivalent to KB.) Sometimes the autumn is very short in the alps! ~~~~~ Heute nachmittag, 14:39 Uhr: Blick aus meinem Arbeitszimmer auf den Niederkaiser (Nordtirol). Der Herbst ist manchmal sehr kurz hier!
