Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso (1887-1918) was born in Amarante council, studied Fine Arts in Lisbon, and moved to Paris when he was 18. He was in touch with many modernist painters, like Amedeo Modigliani, and he produced a lot of paintings and drawings in his short life - he died without completing 31 years of age, victim of the pneumonic pandemic.
