Herzlichen Dank, Uwe! Durch das Tal führt ein Weg, der mit Allrad befahrbar wäre...Kraxeln ist definitiv nicht, aber weiter drin im Tal kann man auf den Dünen sandboarding machen (wie skateboard auf Sand...)

Vielen Dank, Ko! So trocken ist's sonst nirgends auf der Welt....Das dürfte eine der Stellen in der Atacama sein, wo seit Urzeiten kein Regen gefallen ist.

Looks like an inhospitable place Gudrun. You have made the right choice for the Grooved Textures project, but the PiPs make better landscapes. Love the colour contrast between the red cliffs and the clear blue sky. Nice sense of scale on the second PiP with the people on top of the cliffs.

Thank you, Graham! That's why I added the other photos:-) It is an absolutley inhospitable place, but the village of San Pedro is in an oasis where there is actually a bit of green.-) Still, you have to buy bottled drinking water because the mineral content of the tap water is much too high....

Es ist immer wieder spannend solche Stellen zu sehen, wo durch Schichtungen Einblicke in die Erdgeschichte möglich sind. Wie hier bei den PiP's.

Tausend Dank, Udo! Hier war mal in grauer Vorzeit Meeresboden, bevor sich alles gehoben hat, weil die Nazca- Platte sich da drunterschiebt. Die Vulkane kommen erst in der Andenkette.
