All art is the result of observation. Often we see yet do nothing. Sometimes we do not notice at all. Ideas are fragile. They quickly vaporise if they are not preserved and developed. The universe is full of broken fragments of ideas.

Nikon D700 and Tamron SP 35mm F1.8 lens. Cropped and processed in pursuit of the 1950s Kodak look. I expect Fuji does that more convincingly in one of its film simulation modes.

It's only in the winter, when the framework is bare, that you realise how authentic this is in comparison to the more common garden canes people use to grow their scarlet runners. But not everybody has the luxury of choice.

Sharington's Tower

William Sharington bought Lacock Abbey from the Crown following the Dissolution of the Monasteries. The house was built over the old cloisters and its main rooms are on the first floor. In the spot you can see in the foreground stood the chapel used for worship by the nuns. Sharington had it demolished to provide building material for his planned alterations.

Less is More?

The Nikon 35-70mm f/2.8 is only a 2 x zoom. Successors gained more wide-angle capability without losing the constant f/2.8. They incidentally cost a lot more and increased in physical dimensions and weight.
The picture of the red check table cloth was made at 35mm focal length and f/2.8 aperture.

F/2.8, 1/125th, 4000 ISO.
As happens so often with the 35-70mm, in my hands it is basically a 70mm f/2.8 lens. That's my favoured focal length.
