ovvero piccolo ragno su un ranuncolo ;-) È un Thomisidae, probabimente un Xysticus, un cosiddetto ragno-granchio, (in inglese crab spider), in primo luogo per la somiglianza fisica in quanto ha le due paia anteriori di zampe allargate verso l'esterno come le chele di un granchio; in secondo luogo per la forma del corpo appiattita e spesso spigolosa, e inoltre per la capacità che questi ragni hanno di camminare di lato e anche all'indietro. Non tessono una tela ma tendono agguati, sono capaci di uccidere le api con la forza del loro primo paio di arti, si nutrono anche del nettare dei fiori e di altri insetti più piccoli di loro. Il loro veleno non è nocivo per gli esseri umani. the flower is a Chrysanthemum X morifolium the insect is a Coccinella novemnotata, Nine Spotted Lady Beetle (thanks Fizzie !) The nine-spotted ladybug can be identified by the presence of four black spots on each of its elytra, a single spot split between the elytra, and a black suture between the elytra. Its pronotum is black, with two connected white marks at the front. A curiosity: The nine-spotted ladybug has been the state insect of New York since 1989, though its numbers have declined as the numbers of introduced species such as the seven-spotted ladybug and Asian lady beetle have increased. It was for some time thought extinct in New York, so in 2006, the state considered designating the pink spotted ladybug as state insect instead, but the bill did not pass the Senate. In 2006 the nine-spotted ladybug was rediscovered in Virginia (the first East Coast sighting in 14 years). In 2011, about 20 of these ladybugs were found on a farm in Amagansett, NY, the first such sighting in New York since 1982. butterfly orchid orchidea farfalla Anacamptis papilionacea Orchidacee (Orchidaceae Juss., 1789) : la maggior parte delle specie è originaria delle zone tropicali o sub-tropicali di Asia, America centrale e Sudamerica; solo il 15% di esse cresce spontaneamente nelle zone temperate e fredde. Al di là di questo dato la famiglia può comunque ritenersi cosmopolita essendo diffusa nei cinque continenti, con un areale che si estende da alcuni territori a nord del circolo polare artico, sino alla Patagonia e all'Isola Macquarie, prossime all'Antartide. Le Orchidaceae sono in grado di adattarsi ad ogni genere di habitat fatta eccezione per i deserti e i ghiacciai. La maggior parte delle specie tropicali cresce sui tronchi degli alberi o sulle rocce (piante epifite). In Italia ne crescono spontaneamente circa 29 generi, per circa 189 tra specie e sottospecie. Questa mia piccola orchidea spontanea è stata trovata sulle colline liguri davanti al mare, a circa 600 metri di altitudine. ... ma non sono di quelle "vere" ... Comunque anch'io da piccola produco una schiumetta bianca per proteggermi, ma lo faccio di nascosto, non mi vedete facilmente. Invece da adulta ho una vistosa livrea dalle bande rosse e nere. Il mio nome scientifico è, come al solito, molto più altisonante: Cercopis sanguinolenta. Sono una vera vegetariana, mi nutro della linfa di erbe e piccoli arbusti, solo occasionalmente danneggio cereali, orticole e vite. Qui sono in un prato ligure, ma mi potete trovare un po' in tutta l'Europa, escluso l'estremo nord. Da grande sono capace di volare, ma più spesso amo saltare e per questo gli anglosassoni mi chiamano "froghopper" (rana saltatrice). Caratteristiche: torace stretto e addome bulboso, occhi a punta in una testa triangolare, lunghe antenne, classiche zampe anteriori da predatore. Forse questa è una femmina poiché non ha ali molto sviluppate e poi il maschio ha l'addome molto più arcuato. Cacyreus marshalli on Aptenia cordifolia The Geranium Bronze or Brun des pélargoniums in French (Cacyreus marshalli) is a butterfly in the family Lycaenidae. The wingspan is 15–23 mm for males and 18–27 mm for females. Adults are on wing year round in warmer areas, but usually from August to May in South Africa. It is brown with a fine black edge interlaced with white and a very thin tail. The underside is grey-brown with dark bands. The species is native of South Africa. It has, however, been introduced (deliberately or accidentally) to Mediterranean Europe (initially the Balaeric Islands), where it has spread as a pest of cultivated Pelargonium geraniums. On my balcony she destroyed my last pelargonium :( Hope that she will not be a killer also for this succulent !
