Having found our way up to the Abbey via the steps we find a grand entrance to the main courtyard. ‘Melk Abbey (German: Stift Melk) is a Benedictine abbey, founded in 1089, above the town of Melk, Lower Austria, on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube river, adjoining the Wachau valley. Night time draws in at the Winnington chemical works limekilns. The CHP plant chimneys are to the right. The kilns have since been demolished since the ending of soda ash production at this location.

Die Mezquita in Córdoba, Spanien Die Hauptattraktion von Córdoba ist die Moschee-Kathedrale, genannt Mezquita. Seit ihrem Baubeginn im Jahr 785 n.Chr. war die Freitagsmoschee das Vorbild für die Sakralkunst von Al-Andalus schlechthin. Während der Periode des Kalifats bildete sie sogar ein der Grossen Moschee von Mekka gleichwertiges Pilgerzentrum für die Muslime des westlichen Mittelmeerraumes. Sie wurde durch zahlreiche Erweiterungen und Verschönerungen zu einer der prächtigsten Moschee überhaupt. Daran konnte auch der Einbau einer kath. Kathedrale im 16. Jh. nichts ändern.
