A Sea of Blue Anemones
10-Week Color Wheel Project: Blue
Photographed at Longwood Gardens this past Spring. These flowers were among my favorites during my visit. Maybe it's because blue is my favorite color :)
Thank you so much for your lovely comments and faves; your feedback means a lot! A very special thank you to Alina Orlicka who was inspired by this photo to compose the lovely poem below:
A Sea of Blue Anemones

“Anemony“ ©
Ach, ileż tu niebieskości,
której niebo może pozazdrościć!
Wśród łubinów, zieleni - anemony!
Cały świat niebiesko-zielony!...

“The anemones“©
Ah, how much the blue there is here,
which the sky might envy!
Among the lupine, the greenery - the anemones!
The whole world is the blue-green!...

The Greatest Reliever
The Color Wheel Project: Black
Anyone who is a baseball fan knows Yankee great Mariano Rivera, who retired from baseball after the 2013 season. He will long be remembered as the best relief pitcher of all time. He accomplished his remarkable feats using primarily one pitch: a unique fast ball cutter that broke a lot of bats. It looked so easy, but if Rivera was "on", it was a pitch that was impossible to hit. In 2013, the Yankees retired his uniform number 42; he was the last major league player to wear the number full-time, following its league-wide retirement in honor of Jackie Robinson.
But it is his life off the field that endeared him to all baseball fans. His charity, The Mariano Rivera Foundation, has provided health clinics for children where there was no existing clinic, and obtained/bought hospital ambulances and rescue vehicles where needed. It offers an Annual Incentive Scholarship Program, which provides finances to underprivileged students. He has also given many citizens of his native Panama a chance to better their lives through his charitable work.
My first attempt using B&W threshold processing. Not perfect by any means, but interesting to use...
