The Nicer Side of the Armpit
Being from the armpit of New York State, my initial inclination was to make a Rustbelt album, illustrating the problems of the region. I did discover, however, that I had a number of photos of the nicer aspects of the area, so in the interests of fairness, here's an antidote.

Lumbard Hall, Clinton, NY, USA, 2007
Lumbard Hall, which dates to 1926, houses offices for the Village of Clinton, although going through the websites for the village government I was unable to determine if it still qualifies as a village hall.

Kirkland Town Library, Clinton, NY, USA, 2007
The village of Clinton is part of the larger Town of Kirkland, and this is the town library on College Street in Clinton. Part of the Mid-York library system, this library building was originally a school, with the top floor serving as the gym. I tried to find some quick historical info online, since I've forgotten most of it, but I didn't have any luck. I've had video presentations there before, but no slide shows yet. I may have some in the future, but that remains to be seen.

Kirkland Art Center, Clinton, NY, 2007
Originally a church, the Kirkland Art Center now hosts concerts, dance classes, and just about anything else having to do with the arts in Clinton. Too bad there's a Scion out front. :-)

Hotel Utica, Utica, NY, USA, 2007
The Hotel Utica is one of the best-known buildings in Utica, once being the most popular hotel with visiting celebrities. It's since done its time as a lower-end hotel and as public housing, but now it's a hotel again. The skyscraper on the rear left is the State Office Building, the tallest building in town.

Official Water Of The Utica Boilermaker, 2007
This is the official, as opposed to the unofficial, water of the Boilermaker 15K road race. Right....

Aerial Over Central New York, USA, 2007
I took this on a flight into the U.S. recently, on February 24th, if I'm not mistaken. Unfortunately most of the photos I took on this flight didn't come out, since I got the exposure wrong on a camera (my Lomo 135BC) that already had light leaks.

Snowstorm, Clinton, NY, USA, 2007
Here's a Central New York snowstorm going full blast, although it can actually get much heavier than this.

Snowstorm, Picture 2, Clinton, NY, USA, 2007
That isn't fog, that's blowing snow during a storm.

Blurred Lake Champlain, NY, USA 1999
I took this from Amtrak's Adirondack, as we followed Lake Champlain, and when I found this photo amongst my collection, I was struck by how weird it looks. Therefore, I uploaded it to Flickr solely for artistic merit. I hope you like it. :-)
