Portreath outer harbour again. For me, this was a lot of fun and certainy blew some of the cobwebs away!

I just thought this tree and the camellia and especially the cheerful gate showed up well on a gloomy day! The Wheal Pink copper mine was over the road to the left and was one of the largest mining concerns in St Day. Today? Gentle pasture fields!

On request, but I forget by whom - please remind me!! First of two uploads with a few of my 'special wines' acquired over the years and it doesn't mean I was ever 'Money Bags'. As the lighting wasn't great in the kitchen at night (I should have waited till morning but there's always too much hustle and bustle in the kitchen at that time. I'll give brief summaries of these wines L to R starting with the iconic ºººChâteau d'Yquem 1990. The World's greatest dessert wine. ºººChâteau Chasse Spleen 1995, Not a classed growth but I include it as it always served me well. ºººChâteau Léoville Las Cases 1990. A famous St. Julien claret. I feel like opening it on my 65th birthday shortly. LATER ADDITION. I DRANK IT ON MY BIRTHDAY AND WAS BLOWN AWAY!" ºººA Mascarello Barolo 99. Famous, and may just about be ready to drink! ºººA Gaja Barolo Sperrs 1988 (about the most famous wine producer in Italy and prices now to match. A little more reasonable when I bought this!). ºººA Corsini Barbaresco 2007; Looking forward to this one!

Poor lighting in the kitchen and I could have waited for daylight but someone asked me to show some of my specials wines so I post 2 photos today. It's not always easy to read the labels so here goes (a summary)
L to R: Penfolds Grange 1999 - Australia's most iconic red and a recognised 'trophy wine'. Viña Tondonia white Rioja 1981. An extraordinary wine. I once drank a glass from a bottle that had been left open after a wine tasting three months earlier and still sublime! Château Pouilly, Pouilly Fuissé, 2009. Maybe too old but hope not and will open it soon. UPDATE, HAD IT LAST NIGHT WITH TROUT AND ALMONDS - A PERFECT MATCH! Vega Sicila Unico 1990. Spain's most famous wine and another 'trophy wine'. A 1973 was one of the two greatest wines I've ever tasted (the other being a half-bottle of La Mission Haut-Brion 1963 on my 30th birthday. I've still got the empty bottle and might show it one day. Château Mouton-Rothschild 1998. I'm looking firward to my first tsting of a 1st class growth Pauillac, Bordeaux at some future date. It goes without saying that this is another so-called trophy wine! Obviously not everyday drinking!

I remember doing this climb in 1978 but I forget its name or its grade (of difficulty, possibly a VS - very severe - actually not so technically demanding). It was nice to escape for a few hours today and re-visit an old stamping ground: Zennor.
Shooting into the sun. Wasn't sure if it was going to work.

I've probably posted this before on ipernity but I didn't think many would object to a re-visit!

Outer Harbour, Portreath.
This was great! I escaped for half an hour at the coast this evening and as it was very windy in St Day I thought conditions might be interesting on the coast. Serendipity it was't as I guessed this scene was a possibility. There are a few more shots from here to come.
Sunset above The Star.

Not much to add here really but it seemed a bit more colourful than the usual sunset.

Forth An Eglos, Saint Day. I didn't quite make it home in time and got as drenched as I have done in many a long year! Better perhaps on large.

I walked this path once about 25 years ago and not since and confess to remembering nothing at all about it. But I've recently read some interesting facts about the antiquity of this path and the one-time mining community of Treskerby, complete with old pub. I'll do a bit of research and see what happened to it. LATER INFO: Yes, an old mining community with pub, The Pick and Gad, which was turned into 2 houses in the late 19th century. I'll walk this path again with renewed interest as the evenings get longer..

The gorse is well and truly out this week.
Two granite blocks (undoubtedly from old mine works, not from prehistoric stone circles!) and the right hand boulder is interesting but I'm not sure what it is, Does anyone know? (Marije, perhaps).
Sight and Sound. Maybe I've linked this before. If so, apologies but I like it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZmeFGmiQDI&list=RDDZmeFGmiQDI&start_radio=1
Add on, Steve has given as good an explanation as can be - please see below.
