Carn Brea

The castle at Carn Brea with the sea at Porthtowan in the distance. The castle was built in the 15th century as a hunting lodge and has been a restaurant for at least the past 30 years. The same owners but has been closed for some years on and off. Currently open and it seems to offer a sort of French / Indian fusion. I'll look at reviews. OK here goes: www.google.es/search?q=carn+brea+restaurant&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwim49Tt7Z3-AhVTQ0EAHUT9CU8Q7xYoAHoECAkQAQ&biw=1252&bih=556&dpr=1.09) Sight and sound: A favourite Beethoven piano sonata, expertly analysed by Andras Schiff. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wk-iqxqixhY&t=255s

Wheal Pink / Pink Moors

The former Wheal Pink copper mine was located exactly here. No one would believe it today unless they knew! St Day, Cornwall. Marginally better on large.

Carn Brea. Down the ages.

Neolithic property - foreground, medieval hunting lodge behind. Modern industrial and residential complex on the plain below. The sea at Porthtowan can be clearly seen too.

Happy Easter everyone!

HFF!

Another attractive corner in St Day. Sight and Sound. Beethoven's Moonlight sonata - worth waiting for the explosive third movement here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4591dCHe_sE

Perhaps rather more modern than some of the others.

One more (small) granite stile.

Approaching the Wheal Gorland (former vast copper mine) area of St Day. The storm broke 5 minutes later just as I reached home!

Bosigran Head, sea-cliff climbing, nursery slopes.

Looking away from the sea and towards Carn Galva. The slopes here are gentle ones - great for beginners. Better on large for greater detail of the granite and this landscape. This is looking the other direction: www.ipernity.com/doc/2247598/51829324

Another granite stile

A fine sweep of Cornish coast.

Ancient Cornish stile

Leading off from Pink Moors. I went along the path for a few 100 yards but it became so waterlogged that I gave up and will wait for dryer conditions!

Lake Santillana.

Near Manzanares del Real, Madrid Province.

Another ancient granite stile.

I tried this path to Treskerby today but it's definitely a welly walk. Will have to look for my old wellies! They're here somewhere!

More spooky is as spooky does.

A walk along Pink Moors as the last light fades away. (Even spookier on large).

HANWE everyone! I see the Ukranian flag colouring…

Bosigran Head: yellow gorse, grey granite and blue sea. Typical of Cornwall on this coast.

Ancient granite stile.

One of many such stiles on the old path between Vogue and Treskerby. I'll upload a few of them as and when. They often span a brooklet such as this as well as hedges (Cornish for stone walls!)
