Parque del Oeste, Madrid. Civil War fortifications.
These formed part of the defences of Madrid against the Nationalists led by Franco. They held out for three years, Franco deciding in the end to abandon the siege and concentrate on winning the north of Spain, which won him the war eventually.

In fact I try to complete 100,000 steps a week. So on some days (often on a Sunday!), I need to catch up and, time permitting, I put on the mileage (OK, kilometreage here!). Visiting some more distance parks such as this is both do-able and enjoyable!
I haven't missed my 100,000 steps a week since early March (the beginning of lockdown when I was pacing round my flat!). How anal is that?? - no need to answer that one!!! (unless you feel so obliged!)
