El Cancho Largo in autumn, with colourful oak.
This enormous slab of granite looks mushroom-like from afar, not so much from this close. Its summit is the highest point in La Sierra de La Cabrera.

Andy Rodker club has replied to Rosalyn HilborneThe most common oak around here is the holm oak (encina) but this isn't it and I really don't know which one it is, but there are a few of this variety in these mountains and it certainly is colourful in November!
I have a Spanish reference book and it is possible that is a hybrid 'Quercus x neomairei nothosubsp. numantina (Q. faginea subsp. faginea x Q. pyrenaica) .
