B Canal (left) transfers to F Canal (right). The F Canal irrigates the Poe Valley, which is a fertile area for growing alfalfa, dairy and beef cattle. Some of the ranches have been in the same families for generations and are very prosperous.

A superbly composed shot Diane. I love the foreground and the info on the canals.

I agree with Rosa..........I like your composition her and the plants and grasses in the foreground. The red of the bridge really stands out against the background.

Thank you, Keith! I wonder whether the foreground was planted, or just grew that way.

you spring life into my group 'naturey crap - crappy nature' - thanks for continuing to add to the group (hope you find some photos in the group to enjoy as well).

how do you know all the stuff about the things in your photos?

Hehe - well, I love doing research, which includes, in this case, just looking at the canal names on Google Earth. The rest is just what I know from growing up here. Also, a kind of compulsion to write about things.

Thank you, raingirl!

Nice shot of an interesting place. I recently returned from a camping trip through beautiful southeast Oregon. Wonderful country!
