I get an error message when klicking on the names of the new members

I can't replicate this problem. Is it still happening?

If so, are you on a phone, or desktop? And can you say which member you are trying to click on?

(As a work around you should be able to copy their names and do a search for that name.)

Das war wohl nur eine kurze Unterbrechung ohne erkennbare Ursache. Solche Meldungen sendet das System dann automatisch. Ich habe sie ebenfalls bemerkt, aber einfach ignoriert. Nach ein paar Minuten lief alles wieder normal.

Of the 29 new members listed 15 are from Germany, I wonder of there is something about how ipernity is presented that appeals to German members, if so should the presentation be varied to suit the country it is aimed at. I wonder if there are any members who have had experience of advertising and could advise

Hi Peter, I have also noticed this. It is also the truth that Germans in particular are very committed to ipernity. Our webmaster Stefan Roßkopf is German, and so was I until I was nationalised in Austria. We also have three German advisors, Guido, Markus and Tobias. And our two auditors are also from Germany.

On the other hand, it is noticeable that very few French people are involved. This is all the more surprising because ipernity is of French origin and the number of French club members is the same as the number of Germans. Why this is so is completely beyond my comprehension. That's why I don't know what could be done to change that.

As for the low number of French members, I think this is a question of language !! French people are not keen on languages in general and even if there is the possibility to translate, they might find it boring !!

Maybe because there was a time in the past French was the obliged second langage, now is English. We, Portuguese, have one of the most spoken langages around the world but we learn quite easily other langages, so do many Portuguese who did not emigrate. In my south English is normal as second langage, Spanish because most of us have Spanish blood and family on the other side of the border, the older ones like me have learnt French at school, some younger ones too. And German, Italian or Dutch are spoken "ad minima" for tourist business...

Paradoxalement, les Français sont la troisième nationalité sur ipernity. Ce n'est qu'en termes de nouvelles immatriculations qu'ils sont loin derrière. Cela ne peut pas vraiment être dû à des barrières linguistiques, car toutes les langues importantes de l'Occident peuvent être sélectionnées. De plus, contrairement à Flickr, nous disposons d'un traducteur intégré. Il doit y avoir d'autres raisons.

Es sollten die Mitglieder ,welche sofort wieder ausgetreten sind auch wieder als Abgänge gelöscht werden !!!

Wir haben ein Update gemacht.

Personnellement, je fais régulièrement de la publicité pour que de nouveaux adhérents rejoignent Ipernity. Mais je ne peux pas m'impliquer plus en raison de ma maitrise toute relative de l'anglais. Ça me suffit pour voyager, et faire quelques petites interviews sans prétention, mais pas plus. Et puis, je suis déjà impliqué avec deux ONG, l'une en Inde et l'autre à Madagascar.

Souhaiter la bienvenue est effectivement important. Cela facilite la découverte des horizons des uns et des autres. J'appartiens à deux autres "club" photos sur le net, nous notons également et malheureusement une baisse de fréquentation depuis quelques années, bien avant la pandémie COVID aussi bien sur celui qui est gratuit que sur celui qui est payant. La raison est difficile a trouver. Les réseaux sociaux comme INSTAGRAM peut-être…

1) If someone closes their account, there is nothing stopping them from creating a new account. Most people do not abuse this.

2) From what I see, "Ian" is a guest here, not a member. It is of course nice to interact with guests, but this list is of people who have signed on as members.

I now see it is a list of only new MEMBERS.
Isn't it an idea to expand that to a list of all new entrants. Maybe then "guests" - if we welcome them warmly - will become interested in a membership.

It is a good idea that would certainly find broad support. However, it would not be possible to maintain such a list manually. One would have to find someone who is able and willing to programme this.

Maybe someone will get in touch?

Why is someone added as a new member but the account doesn't exist ?

This list is not generated automatically, but is maintained manually once a week. Therefore, it cannot represent the database in detail. (The list generated automatically by the system would flood you with all the spam. What we show you here are only the unsuspicious true new registrations.)

Of course, some newcomers may not become active at all or may unsubscribe after a few days. Then we remove them from the list. It can also be that other newcomers only upgrade to a club membership after weeks. Then they appear in this list much later.

Ich habe schon öfter die "New Club Members" von dieser Seite angeklickt und festgestellt, dass manche sich noch nicht näher vorgestellt haben ("mehr Informationen").
Außerdem haben sie keine Kontakte (Bekannte) und mehrere haben nicht ein einziges Foto veröffentlicht.
Das sind "neue Mitglieder"?
Das verstehe ich nicht.

Lieber Kalli, ich antworte Dir schnell mal privat, weil ich diese Liste bisher gepflegt habe und mich deshalb am besten damit auskenne. Es ist eine manuell erstellte - und aktuell gehaltene - Liste aller neu registrierten Mitglieder, die eine Club-Mitgliedschaft buchen. Was diese neuen Mitglieder dann mit ihrem Account machen, ist ihre Angelegenheit.

Die Aktivität dieser neuen Mitglieder auch noch (manuell) zu überwachen, würde das ehrenamtliche ima-Team heillos überfordern. Es gibt nämlich keine softwareseitige Unterstützung. Und das ist auch gut so. Denn eines der Prinzipien unserer Webseite ist, dass das Verhalten unserer Mitglieder nicht automatisiert überwacht oder ausgewertet wird.

Nimm die Liste einfach, wie sie ist. Besser, es gibt überhaupt eine Liste, als gar keine. Dass darin auch 'Flops' sind, ist einfach so. Klick sie einfach weg.

Ich hatte nur nicht verstanden, wieso die Neuen auf einer Liste auftauchen, wenn sie hier doch rein gar nichts machen.

Bis unsere interne Übergabe abgewickelt ist, pflege ich die Liste übrigens noch weiter.
Aus dem Januar habe ich jemanden gelöscht.
Dafür gibt es einen interessanten aktuellen Neuzugang: Knight Shooter
Er ist aktiv und wird sich sicherlich über Besuch freuen.

Ich habe ihn besucht. ☺

Nun bin ich gespannt, ob es eine Eintagsfliege war.

I do not know how many are club members, but about 250 are registered as from Australia (I think this means their computers go through an Australian server), and about 75 registrants list Australia in their profiles. Those are rough numbers.

Hi Jaap, zufällig lese ich das. Danke, dass Du so aufmerksam bist. Manchmal erwachen Spam-Accounts nämlich erst Tage oder Wochen nach der Registrierung zum Leben. Deshalb braucht es unser aller Aufmerksamkeit. Melde den Account doch bitte über die Hotline als Spam, damit er entfernt wird.

The coding of the article had included some doubling up of http:// and somehow it directed us to an advertisement page instead of just being blank or an error. This was not done by the member!

This is fixed now. Thank you to StoneRoad2013 for messaging me.

I do check on these links every so often and thought I had checked the new ones when I updated the article. I'm sorry if this created any distress for anyone.

I started to visit the accounts of new members and left welcome messages in their guest books...........not one of them even replied :-(

One thing I have found is that the guest books is a place that isn't very supportive of conversations - it's more like a bulletin board. I do know some people "reply", but one has to return to the person's home page and do a visual search to discover such a reply.

I find people are more likely to reply to a comment on their photos.
