There are 9 days left and the first goal of 25,000$ has been reached !

We can call it a success but it is not over, the ultimate goal is 50,000$

A word from IMA :

According what I've seen mentioned, the total sum paid by suspicious "soca jorge" is $3,862. It then means we are still $302 short (when I posted this).

And indeed it doesn't matter if we get even more ;-)

Please folks also try to be patient. One big problem has been the all relevant information becoming scattered around. I personally even have considered to put up a 'Frequently Asked Questions' blog post because I've seen so many questions asked again and again, but answers may not have reached all of those who have asked them.

Why Generosity by Indiegogo crowdfunding service became chosen that does not support other than credit cards?

"Indiegogo is the only service that charges 0 fees for non-profits. Every other service charges a minimum of 8% + a portion of the monetary donation bringing real charges in excess of 12% at times."

Why the planned IMA membership fee seems to be fixed to 50€?

It isn't, but at the moment, with the current amount of active and willing people to continue under IMA, 50€ is what it takes to pay the annual server costs (~66,000€). However:

"The membership amount can always change if it is possible depending on crowdfunding and expenses. If dead accounts are deleted (they contribute nothing to the site with regard to revenues to offset costs which at this time are more important than a "footprint" taking up server space) and costs are further reduced, anything is possible."

Why people are not informed enough?

"IMA has tried its best to keep people updated with announcements in the Ipernity Members Association Project group. At the same time, we cannot always divulge the content of our discussions with Ipernity S.A. because of confidentiality requirements. Once IMA has ownership of the platform, IMA will be free of this burden.

I suggested to both Team Ipernity and the IMA weeks ago that there was a need to produce a "Question & Answer" post, but neither took it on board! :(

A lack of answers and a muddled discussion spread across countless threads has not helped our efforts to save this great site. And as much as I appreciate your efforts to try and fill the gap Sami by, these statements really need to be posted by the IMA and/or Team Ipernity.

Not criticising your efforts in any way Sami, as I've actually been working on something similar over the last couple of days, but like I say it's really they themselves that need to issue the information people are requesting and they should do so in one easy to navigate space.

And you're right about soca.jorge1986 ... he actually donated that we know of a total of $3,862 via 18 separate donations.

I think we are the IMA, and all the efforts people like you and me can help. There are of course people who does not believe or even read anything that comes from "unofficial sources", but I truly believe we all should at least try to change that way of thinking. Well, I'm very likely naive on this but so be it! =D

Please also notice it can be a little confusing to see different amounts mentioned around. Here's one "short" attempt to collect all of them:

- Annual server costs are ~66,000€ with the current usage and amount of accounts.
- 50.000€ would be nice to let IMA run the place until 2018. It would let us (IMA) more time to develop our project and secure it.
- 25,000 dollars is the official goal of the current crowdfunding. But every cent more is welcome to keep the monthly server costs paid longer!
- The time limit set for current crowdfunding is till next week. So, there's still plenty of time to donate more ;-)
- If you can't donate for the reasons already discussed (no credit card, or zip code not accepted), then don't worry. This is very likely not your last chance to help. And also all other sort of help is more than welcome. You can for example try to advertise the IMA project on social media ;-) In the future we will need more members, anyone interested to use and support a community owned by members association.

The first goal is what the Generosity by Indiegogo web site says: $25,000 USD.

"13/03/2017: The CrowdFunding campaign as officially begun. Even though the goal is listed at $25,000, we need approximately $30,000. If people honor their survey commitments, we should realize this."

The ultimate goal of 50,000 $/€ mentioned on the blog post is based on the calculations and several posts made by IMA where it said being wonderful to get even 50,0000 $/€. And that is because then we (IMA) would secure the service costs paid for the rest of the year (~5,000€ per month), and then give us (IMA) enough time to arrange practicalities.

So, the first goal have been reached. More generosity is still welcome and buy more time to get things sorted out.

On what I have understood, the "ultimate goal of 50,000$" mentioned on the blog post by Ipernity team is not the goal of this crowdfunding.

So, the goal of this crowdfunding is what the crowdfunding page says: $25,000 USD. Another "goal" was and is to get enough money within 2 weeks. So, the current crowdfunding ends next week, and if more than requested $25,000 USD become collected, then all the better for the future of IMA, to get things started, and server costs paid also during next months.

It seems that this user base has markedly declined recently. Raising money is relatively easy; raising consciousness is going to be very difficult.

There are also big places about photography online where we can spread our story.

Sehr gerne, nimm dir das Posting sehr gerne als Inspiration. Wäre der Text bei ipernity gepostet worden, wäre er als lizenzfrei deklariert gewesen. Bei Facebook geht das so leider nicht.

Aber das war ja meine Intention, dass ich den Link hier rein gesetzt habe - das sich andere dadurch inspiriert fühlen lassen und selbst was entsprechendes schreiben. Ich glaube, wenn wir alle schreiben, warum ipernity für uns so wichtig und insbesondere einzigartig ist, und nicht einfach durch flickr oder anderes ersetzbar ist, ist das gut.

Und wenn das dann anhand konkreter Beispiele geschieht - in meinem Fall ist das eben die mir nur hier bekannte Funktion mit den Fotos innerhalb von Fotos mittels "Notes" (Picture in Picture), ist jedem eben klar, warum ich nicht einfach nach flickr, instagram oder sonst wohin weiter ziehen kann mit meinen Fotos - eben weil es da diese Funktionalität nicht gibt.

Ich glaube, das zieht besser als "Wir haben hier viele Freunde gefunden" - das könnte man nämlich im Zweifelsfall auch bei jeder anderen Fotocommunity ebenso tun. Nur - Fotos in Fotos einzubinden - das gibt es so nur bei ipernity. Und das ist damit ein echtes Alleinstellungsmerkmal von ipernity. Etwas, mit dem ipernity werben hätte können (es aber leider nicht tat). Und mit dem ima vielleicht zukünftig dann um neue Mitglieder werben sollte, eben weil es ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal von ipernity ist.
Genauso wie die Möglichkeit, viele Dateitypen hoch zu laden. In Verbindung mit einer Blogfunktionalität.
Ipernity ist als Paket so einfach einzigartig. Das muss zukünftig deutlich stärker heraus gestellt werden, wenn man neue Mitglieder erreichen möchte.

Wir haben uns ja alle seit Dezember ÜBERALL umgeschaut, um festzustellen, daß Iper einmalig bzgl. seiner Funktionalität ist. Umso mehr wundere ich mich, wie wenig Leute sich tatsächlich für diese einmalige Plattform engagieren. Gerade mal 500 Spender von 3.000 Club-Mitgliedern.
Jeder bestätigt, daß eine "vernünftige" Fotoseite toll wäre - aber plötzlich, wenn's was kostet, werden die meisten still .... und bescheiden sich mit fragwürdigen Communities - Hauptsache Klicks .... kommt mir so vor, wie all die gesundheitsbewußten Leute, die von Bioprodukten schwärmen, und dann bei Burger King oder KFC aufschlagen.

Den Newsseiten ist trotz Werbung auch schon die Luft ausgegangen (SPON, New York Times); Ohne Payment steht nur noch Quark & Teaser auf der Seite: Ergo, will man Info´s: Blechen. But, there are too many questions which remain unanswered before I commit to using my credit card for a payment to Crowfunding, what is the fixed fee, what happens to memberships which are already paid, what about renewing, etc. Also, when talking about donation amounts, it would be helpful to also receive in $.

In various places in your daily summaries you have referred to various sums as being necessary for the survival of ipernity; $25,000 was the original goal of the crowdfunding; a few days ago there was a reference to 34,000 euros as a goal; and, now the ultimate goal is $50.000. As I read the comments above I think one thing that is clearly having a negative impact on your funding campaign is the confusion generated by the lack of clarity about the funding needs now and in the future. I think you could really help your effort by making some kind of statement as to where these numbers are coming from coupled with a timeline outlining your expectations as to when the final takeover will occur and how much it will cost to get there. Also, some projection of the proposed operating costs and membership fees would be helpful, along with a little recent history concerning costs so all of us can make an informed judgment concerning your plans

First of all, everyone, please notice from now on I'm officially speaking also on behalf of IMA founding group. But on my own behalf, I sincerely try to make people understand all that already have been said.

The current server costs at Amazon, to run this place, are 5,000€ per month.

10,000€ is need immediately to cover the costs for March and April, because within negotiations with Ipernity S.A. it was agreed, from now on it falls to IMA to take care of server costs, starting from March 2017.

Then every 5,000€ extra we get on crowdfunding buys us one more month before we have to ask people start paying the planned 50€ annual membership.

So, imagine we get just 25,000€ (and I mean euros, not dollars). Then 10,000€ goes to cover the March and April. The rest 15,000€ would be enough to run the service till the end of July. Meaning we would immediately have to ask people to pay the planned 50€ annual membership, and to do that by the end of July 2017.

And therefore the different amounts. The amount of 50,000€ once mentioned by William is based on a plan to get enough crowdfunding money to run the service even till the end of 2017. And that way we would get more time to make the service ready for the future.

Also please realize the crowdfunding is sort of a way to make the more generous people to pay on behalf of everyone else. As long as we run the service with fund money, we have more time to find out whether it really is 50€ what we need to start asking from everyone.

Today I became more and more pessimistic about the future of Ipernity (and IMA).

Why:

- I started a BOOST-action for the Ipernity crowdfunding and 8 hours later I do have ZERO response (in the meantime I have stopped this action)
- The last 8 hours there are THREE donations on Generosity (including mine)
- I see more and more members leaving IP or being not active any longer; haven’t seen any members coming back from Fli… or 23HQ
- I see and read words, words and words, but don’t see actions or decisions
- The lack of communication and transparency is absolutely frustrating

I’m sorry to say, but I almost hope the take-over by IMA will fail, so I will get back my donations. Will rethink my activities here on Ipernity the next couple of days.

Jaap, the first goal of crowdfunding became reached. The minimum requirement of getting $25,000 USD has been fulfilled, even if the suspicious donations becomes removed. This means the negotiations between Ipernity S.A. and IMA continues as hoped and planned. IMA will collect the donated money next week, pay the current server costs, and finalize the agreement with Ipernity S.A..

So, if nothing surprising does not occur, the goal has been reached successfully. We of course still hope to get even more donations, to get as much time as possible for IMA to run the service before it comes the time to ask all members to pay the actual membership fees.

All of you, I hope you will not let today's activity, or lack of activity to depress you. For me the situation looks good, and when IMA indeed can start to run this service, then we can always start to ask people to return.

Sami, it says clearly on the crowdfunding site that:

"50,000 Euros is sufficient to keep the platform alive through the end of 2017 so that it is possible to offer a new Ipernity in 2018. If just 1/3 of club members offer a 50 Euro contribution we can meet our objective. All funds donated will be retained by the association of members and be returned in full if the takeover bid fails.

So, if the IMA "collect the donated money next week" and "pay the current server costs" before an agreement is reached with Ipernity SA then how will the IMA be able to honour this commitment and return in full the donations made if an agreement is not reached?

Surely, best practice would say that the agreement should be reached and signed before the IMA go spending any of the money that's been donated?

On 13/03/2017 it was said we have approximately two weeks to reach the primary goal. So, there's time to donate on the crowdfunding at least till the next Monday.

As far as I know, April 1st is in no way special on what comes to negotiations. All members become informed as soon as there is something new to inform.

Oh yes, that one. It is of course a matter of opinion whether the crowdfunding was a success or not. The fact we reached only less than 500, when over 900 replied on survey saying they would participate. It is indeed disappointing.

However, the requested minimum amount is now collected. And that at least allows us to continue the negotiations as planned.

Must confess Jaap, I always thought Ipernity SA was going to pull the plug in March and assumed having reached the 25000€ goal that would be sufficient to kick start the IMA and then the rest of the monies for 2017 would come from Membership fees.
From the point of view of your BOOST -action, this is the first I have heard of it (20:30hrs Thursday) To be honest I'm starting to wane and hoping for a failure to agree, I have no will to continue searching each discussion trying to pick up on the start and ending of the threads, reading bits of information halfway through their threads, It's impossible. We was promised somewhere along the line daily updates once the 25000€ target was reached, so far "Sweet nothing".

On the survey IMA conducted, approximately 900 of the respondents offered to participate in a CrowdFund campaign. Now we have a little less than 500. The amount offered to pay on that survey was over 34,000€.

This is not practical and there are 4 days left. Nine days is an error!

If the goal was raised to another level and the necessary donations did not follow to achieve it, IMA would be locked out the the funds. Indiegogo would then return the $25,000+ already raised to the donors and the site would definitely shut down since there would be no way to pay the March and April expenses if IP S.A. commits to turning the site over to IMA. No commitment and the money is returned to the donors.

In addition, if the fundraiser was extended, Indiegogo would consider it a "fundraiser on demand" and funds would not be released until April 12th at the earliest, which would be too late to keep the site up. Once it is shut down, it is more difficult if not impossible to bring back up.

Hi. I am with Kitzkicker. If you need 50k to take over IP, why the goal is not 50k? I donated already what I promised in the poll. Additionaly I had to renew my membership, and there is no option for 3 months any longer, only a year or two are possible, So, as I understand now IMA: If they close the fundraising with 25k, IP operations are save for 6 Months and then the site will be finally closed, while my membership is still active? What is happening with the now renewing member payments?

Perhaps. It's too soon to to be certain. As of now, Indiegogo has not confirmed that issue, even as the inquiry was made approximately a week ago.

However, even if that is the case, the crowdfunding target has been reached. The level of support for the effort has been fantastic. So many people have truly pulled together to advance the effort. That's the far more important story.

That could well be the case. It is encouraging that we exceeded the $25,000 target.

Indiegogo and Generosity do what is necessary to preserve the integrity of the crowdfunding industry. This is helpful for all, as one can have confidence that all parts of the transaction from donations to receipt of funds are reasonably safeguarded against fraudulent or other illegal practices.

On a bright note, the Ipernity Members Association won't be stuck with the unpleasant task of having to sort through the various transactions to determine which ones are legitimate and which ones aren't.

The silence is because the most important thing right now is to get prepared to next week's negotiation.

Enough money became collected on the crowdfunding. Case of questionable large donation became solved. Final negotiations will take place during next week. If anyone still wants to donate, it is possible until Tuesday evening (William will check the exact time ASAP). No fund money is used to anything before deal is signed.

Mal wieder alles nur in englischer und französischer Sprache. :-( Sehr schade. Bin dann mal wieder außen vor. Es wird leider viel zu wenig in Deutsch kommuniziert. Und wenn, dann ist es auch nur par Google-Übersetzer übersetzt und alles ist nicht schlüssig. Ist schon ein doofes Gefühl wenn man nicht versteht worum es eigentlich geht. Anfangs habe ich noch versucht mich durch die Kommentare zu fitzen und alles irgendwie übersetzt zu bekommen. Bei der Masse an Beiträgen ist mir das zeitlich allerdings nicht möglich. Von daher....tschüß Ipernity. Meine Fotoheimat der letzten 9 Jahre.... :-(

I would say the same to portuguese and spanish, two of the most spoken european langages in the world...and the translator just gives an idea. Luckily I speak good french and english and understand some german...
Hope IMA will take other langages than french and english in account and will be abble to provide versions for important declarations. Christine Juron-Meunier has been helping a lot on this.

Please everyone, also consider helping each other. I'm personally only fluent enough in English (and Finnish of course).

So, if you are good in multiple languages, please help others to understand what is going on. I know it is often difficult for anyone to follow everything around here. But together we can at least try.

During this week Ipernity S.A. and IMA are having the final negotiations. Hopefully we achieve an agreement. If we do, I suppose anything dramatic on how the service works will not happen at least during April.

If we do not achieve agreement, then the Web site becomes closed.

After reading William's latest message, there is indeed reason to be more optimistic. I particularly like what William said the conditions would have to be before IMA will sign the contract with ipernity SA: in addition to the site's viability, if ipernity's long term survival is assured they will sign, if not, they won't. This was the area of my biggest insecurity about the whole ipernity deal. Now that I know IMA won't sign the contract unless it knows ipernity's future is solid, I won't be feeling as anxious about whether all this crowdfunding money is going for naught. ;-)

Me too Sami, Free online Translation software can never equall a human simply because computers lack feeling, have no sense of Humour nor allow for human error with wrongly spelled words etc. Purchased programs are better but still not perfect in the same way as hand helt translators that are common in Japan can never translate long sentences, even short ones give problems.
I know this simply because I spent several years teaching Oxford English to Japanese seniors using Skype.
I used Babylon which I found on a free disket issued with a computer journal, I was so impressed that I purchased the full program which I have updated each time an improved version was offered, it cost several hundred $ US and is compatible with MS Word which is good because it enables long documents to be translated the spell and gramar checkd in the 75 languages supported by MS.

IP ne fait que faire suivre un mail automatique mais n'est pour acune responsabilité dans votre éviction. Depuis décembre beaucoup de groupes ont fermé, cela doit être la raison du mail que vous avez reçu. Vérifiez si la page du groupe existe encore et si elle existe écrivez à son administrateur.

Ich bin selbst Mitglied dieser Gruppe - sie existiert und funktioniert.
Allerdings: es ist eine CHALLENGE-Gruppe, mit EXAKTEN Regeln. Vielleicht hast Du die Regeln nicht beachtet ?
Lies Dir diese Regeln doch bitte noch einmal durch. Vielleicht gibt es ein Mißverständnis.
