Crowdfunding by IMA day 2 - [EN] [FR]

Reminder, and notice to all who are having troubles using indiegogo's 'Generosity' crowdcampaign.

According to William it was chosen because it "is the only service that charges 0 fees for non-profits".

And this 'Generosity' unfortunately don't support any other than credit card payments.

In short you may try to ask if some of your Ipernity friends could pay on behalf of you, and then after the results of campaign is declared, you can reimburse to that friend of yours via PayPal if the campaign was a success.

"Not much point in paying for Ipernity Club membership" - Having followed the various correspondence threads for some time I have noticed that a significant number of people seem not to have fully grasped that Ipernity SA is separate from and independent of the Ipernity Members Association. This has led to grumbles that seem to view IMA and IpSA together as 'the enemy' or the 'Them' against 'Us'. And now people are, as I feared, seemingly paying money to IpSA in the mistaken belief that this will help IMA and aid the take-over of Ipernity by IMA.
It would be good if a way could be found to clarify the real situation very strongly, without of course antagonising IpSA unduly in the coming negotiations.

Yesterday I started my "personal campaign" (to inform my Fl***r contacts about our crowdfunding campaign). I got a lot surprised answers .... a lot of members and ex-members mean, to pay an annual fee will save our NEW IMA-community.

It`s a lot of work to send a personal mail to EVERY of this goodwill-members to clear the situation....

Thank you so much for sending those e-mails. It's that type of diligence that will get us to where we want to be!

Please remember that the crowdfunding being undertaken by the IMA has nothing to do with monies already paid to Ipernity SA for subscriptions. This is to keep the site alive for a few more months until the takeover by the community can be finalised.

We have less than 2 weeks to reach our target or, according to what I've been told, the site will most certainly close. So if you want ipernity to still be here next month please support the crowdfunding campaign.

I think it is also vital that people are made aware that at present there is no guarantee that subscription monies paid recently or prior to the IMA takeover of the platform will go towards helping save the site or towards helping the IMA reach their target.

So, unless Ipernity SA are willing to give an undertaking that any monies paid from today to them for membership will be passed to the IMA I would recommend people do not renew their Club membership should it be coming up for renewal.

That money will almost certainly be lost so please either keep it until the IMA takeover or better still donate it to the crowdfunding campaign.

May I point out that it could help to send an email to all Ipernity users with the information about the fund raise. The whole process of building up the IMA took some while and many interested members might not check the progress on that regularly.

Yes, I think people would not mind being contacted by IMA. Who ever has the access to that list of email addresses, please consider using it to contact all who participated to survey, and send a notice that the crowdfunding is now running.

I rather suspect that he won't see that money being donated by Ipernity SA to IMA as a good will gesture in return.

Jaap if we had a pound, dollar or euro for every time that question has been asked and usually left unanswered we'd probably have secured enough money by now to save the site! ;)

Team Ipernity have suggested it has something to do with the fact that if they send a mass mailing it can trigger spam alerts with some email providers, but I don't really buy into that.

Even if this were the case they could got around it by undertaking the mailing in smaller batches over a period of time or, here's a thing, how about sending it by ipernity mail!

No, there is something odd about their approach to this that I have just never been able to get my head around. I think the issue goes much deeper and has something to do with the fact that for whatever reason they do not want to put out anything official beyond the confines of this site.

Think about it. There's been no mass email campaign and nothing at all about either the IMA or the crowdfunding on Facebook.

I'm not trying to be alarmist here. There may well be legal issues we're not aware of, but what ever is holding them back I fear it doesn't help those of us who are trying promote the crowdfunding one bit.

It's all well and good putting out articles on ipernity, but not everyone follows their blog. If they really want to help make as many people aware of what's happening as possible then they need to issue an alert to all users and get something onto Facebook!

It is EXACTLY what happened the other week.. and ALL emails were stopped and blocked from Ipernity by at least 4 providers for 3 days.

I have seen notice on Facebook on the Ipernity Group page.

We are off to an awesome start - let's brainstorm ways to spread the word ourselves. Maybe if we all messaged as many of our contacts as we can (and ask them to message their contacts?)?

I have been trying to put notice on any members I know that have posted on my photos. It is time consuming, but hopefully helpful.

Each little bit helps!! Any other ideas we can do ourselves?

We can do this! We are passionate and capable. If each of us messages as many of our contacts a we can 9and ask them to spread the word as well) - the word will continue to spread.

I know that there can be issues Pam, but there are ways around it. There has been for whatever reason a real reluctance on the part of Team Ipernity to mention the IMA campaign anywhere other than within the confines of the site.

Well, shock, horror and all that they have finally put something on Facebook about the IMA and the crowdfunding!

Well done Team Ipernity, just a shame that it's taken you weeks to get around to it, but credit where credit is due as they say! :)

I have been informed that some people mistakenly think there is plenty of time and ignore the real urgency of the situation. They think because their subscription runs until late 2017 or even into 2018 Ipernity will not shut down. This is not true!

The crowdfunding campaign is separate and independent of peoples' subscription payment to Ipernity S.A. and meant to erase a significant shortfall and buy time for the transfer of ownership to IMA. If the goal is not met, Ipernity WILL shutdown at the end of the month. It will be deemed financially unviable to continue. Therefore it is critical that everyone who wants Ipernity to continue participate in the crowdfunding.
