Recent disfigurement of images processed in Lightroom Classic.
- 4 years agoI wonder if any other members have experienced similar issues recently using LR Classic for processing?

Smugmug buys Flickr!
- 21 Apr 2018 - 2 commentsA great number of us at Ipernity were refugees from Flickr on its takeover as CEO by Marissa Mayer, who turned it into a nightmare of a site. At the time I felt she was a squib whose trajectory was a subject to the same rules of gravity as any other squib, and so it has transpired, with her departure from Yahoo, on its takeover by Verizon. Subsequently Verizon has sold Flickr to Smugmug.

Downloading your images from Ipernity
- 28 Dec 2017 - 2 commentsHas anyone recently managed to download their own images from Ipernity back to their p.c. in jpg format? What did you use to do this, as the suggestions contained in the Tools section (pre-collapse of Ipernity and its resurrection) do not seem to work in providing you with jpgs? The first one recommended provides you with a mirror image of the web page, i.e. an HTML file. The second one (Downthemall) no longer is compatible with the latest version of Firefox (Quantum). What is needed is to dow…

Fixing Canon EOS Utility software problems with latest version of Windows 10 (Nov 2017)
- 13 Dec 2017Canon support suggest uninstalling, disabling Windows Firewall, and any other anti-virus software and reinstalling. This DOES NOT WORK, however often you try it. The actual solution is to right-click on the exe file for EOS Utility, and choose compatability mode. It switches to Windows 8 Compatability, and when tested opens, as it should, as opposed to doing nothing when previously you clicked on it, following the Windows 10 update. I hope people with this problem find this solution before the…

Alternatives to Ipernity, following its impending closure
- 09 Dec 2016IF those following my image postings want to find me, post-Ipernity, whose impending demise saddens me, I post better images to www.photo.net/photos/jtmm , and will be using: www.facebook.com/Coldwaterjohn increasingly in lieu of a photo journal. You will be most welcome to visit either. If those of you whose posts I visit regularly would let me know in due course where they plan to be posting their images, I would be grateful. With best wishes for a peaceful Christmas, and New Year.

Issues with the Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ60
- 30 Sep 2015 - 2 commentsA heads-up for anyone with a Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ60. What is apparently a common fault develops which results in the camera becoming inoperable. a system message appears on screen "System Error - Focus". Before you pay for any repair, even if out of warranty, complain to Panasonic UK Support, emphasising the camera is not fit for purpose; you will be advised to send it to their preferred Repair Centre, and they will instruct you to advise the repair centre that Panasonic is prepared to offer…

Saving an image from ipernity to iPad?
- 20 Apr 2014 - 3 commentsWhen trying to download one of my own images, it seems it will only allow the image to be downloaded as a gif file. Does anyone have the answer why it can't be downloaded as a jpg?

Hiccup in Picasa to Ipernity Button Uploader
- 17 Apr 2014 - 14 commentsFor the past few days ever since reinstalling Picasa, and then installing the Picasa to Ipernity uploader button from the Ipernity site, when clicking on the button, having selected an image to upload, a screen appears telling me to sign in to Ipernity (I am alrady signed in). I complete the screen. The screen on the right then pops up "Looks like cookies are blocked. Please check your browser or firewall settings". Nothing blocked! Is anyone else having this issue? Separately another scr…

Canon 6D Software malfunction...
- 23 Dec 2013 - 1 commentNo more Canon 6D images for a while - this morning the rear LCD screen remained blank for stills. Nothing I did, including reloading the firmware from the Canon site, would bring it back to life. Weirdly it lit up for video mode, but it wouldn't take a video. Huge sigh of relief discovering I had bought it on 13 January 2013, so still under warranty, but they reckon there could be a three to four week turnaround depending on what is wrong with it. Excellent service once more from Joseph at www…

Picasa Sidebar font too small to read on large format TV as monitor?
- 22 Nov 2013Lucian on Googe Product Forums has come up with a step-by-step solution which works! Here is his advice - if I can follow it, anyone should be able to... It is possible to enlarge the folder names on the left. If this looks too complicated, ask somebody else to do it for you. 1. In Windows click Start > Control Panel > Folder Options (If you don't see Folder Options, on top right switch to small icon view) 2. Select the "View" tab and uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types" 3.…

Technical Wizard Wanted: Canon DPP misbehaving!
- 22 Nov 2013 - 2 commentsRecently I switched from using a 48" Panasonic Viera as a display monitor, connected to my P.C.(Windows 7) by a VGA cable. I have now connected a new 42" Viera, using HDMI cabling to my P.C. When I try to start Canon's Digital Photo Professional to process RAW images from my 6D, thsi message appears: "This program requires a display capable of 1024 x 768 resolution or more (screen area) and High Color or higher settings." The TV display is set to 1920 x 1080 - i.e. more than the requirement.…

Privacy Settings on Flickr all screwed up
- 29 Aug 2013Despite this image www.flickr.com/photos/cwaterjohn/3949980541 being set on privacy for friends and family only, someone has within the last 45 minutes added it as one of their favourites. I wonder on what basis they were able to access my image without being either friend or family? I suspect like much else their privacy settings are all screwed up... Flickr responded to my complaint: Thank you for contacting Yahoo! Flickr. I verified this is a valid issue on Flickr and I've escala…

Canon EF 70-200mm 1:2.8L IS USM Group
- 27 Aug 2013This group on Ipernity has been inactive in recent years. However there was a flourishing version of it over on Flickr, and so I hope those ex-flickr refugees using this lens and contributing their images to Ipernity will consider joining, to resuscitate its fortunes!

How images look on different monitor screens...
- 20 Aug 2013 - 2 commentsIf you haven't looked at your images on any screen other than your own, you may be in for a bit of a shock. Most of my processing and viewing has been done on a large Panasonic Viera (48") screen. It has been an unhappy surprise whilst travelling over the past few days, and having borrowed a family Apple Air Book for the journey, to see that many of them look rather washed out, as if the saturation levels have been reduced considerably. I am wondering if this is a common issue?

Favorites
- 23 Jul 2013Has anyone discovered a method of manipulating their "favorites" so that they can be sorted in "Organize"? I have already discovered from the helpful people at Ipernity, that however many favorites you may have, whether your own or other people's, the home page box for favorites only cycles through ten of them. It seems they don't have any plans to change that, any time soon. As an alternative I was thinking of crerating an album out of them, but they don't come up in "organize" as a separat…

Rumblings at Flickr's Parent, Yahoo!
- 24 Jun 2013 - 1 commentWell, well! It takes time for these things to filter through to shareholders, but this morning's Daily Telegraph Business News front page leading article reads: No confidence US funds target Yahoo! directors. Two US pension funds known for campaigning to improve companies' corporate governance have voted for every Yahoo! director, including chief executive Marissa Mayer, to be removed from the board.

Panoramio/Google Earth Imagery
- 29 May 2013 - 1 commentIf you are interested only in my landscape photography round the world, you may like to take a look at this link, which will take you to a slideshow of about 270 of the 650 images I have on Panoramio. As of May 2013, they had been viewed 1,166,000 times, which is rather startling, to me at any rate! tinyurl.com/o4rohez
