Walk through the bamboo wood land

Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants on Earth; it has been measured surging skyward as fast as 100 cm in a 24-hour period. Primarily growing in regions of warmer climates during the Cretaceous period, vast fields existed in what is now Asia. Bamboo is also known to be able to grown over 40 meters tall.

Farmers bring home bamboo bars

Pedestrian controlled tractors are used more and more on the fields and in the forests of Thailand. Its more economical than using animals like buffalos, ox or elephants. The villagers bring home bamboo bars for using it in house constructions.

Meeting again after six years the villagers remind us well. There is a life style in Thailand in old tradition which remind me my first visit to my present homeland in 1978.

Khok means hill, the village is located on a hillside very close to the border to Laos.

Baan Khok is a small village in the district Na Haeo. In the average its the coldest place in Thailand, the villagers are sitting on the fireplace. Its the most western point of Isaan, just some kilometres far away from the neighboring province Phitsanulok which isn't located in Isaan anymore.
