The beach at Toliara, South West Madagascar. It is a village, a road, a toilet, a fishing place. People are desperately poor and unemployment is the norm. Madagascar is almost the poorest country in the world according to UN statistics. It has been riddled with corruption. Many schools are permanently closed. Family planning and medical care almost non existent. Most people do not have access to water or electricity. Despite this, people are friendly and warm, and I really enjoyed my time there exploring.

Ladakh (Little Tibet). Alchi village. Kashmir. The roof is used for storage of dried fodder, fuel and food supplies for the winter...bitterly cold here at above 3500 meters in the Indus Valley.
