The "Emperor" in the Xian stage show about the Tang Dynasty, closing the show and saying "farewell" (see also my previous image). I'm also about to depart for the next few weeks. I may have some occasional internet, but expect I'll be largely off line. Best wishes, everyone.

Xian was the Chinese Capital city for over ten different dynasties. One of those was the Tang Dynasty, considered one of China's greatest periods and now celebrated in Xian with a stage show of music and dance. It was a colourful and enjoyable evening.

Midwinter is the year's major event in the Antarctic regions: there are suitable celebrations and, in most years at the Australian stations, a performance of a rather bawdy rhyming version of Cinderella. Here Cinderella tries on the 'magic slipper' while one of the ugly sisters watches in horror, saying "...Strike me pink the slipper fits Now wouldn't that give you the s###s"
