The frangipani flowers always make a great display during summer. Best viewed large on black.

Summer at the beach

28 Dec 2022 38 21 238
Low tide on my local beach at sunset. The same scene in daylight in the PiP - busy compared to the usual, because of the 'holiday crowds'. The water is delightful at present, the day temperature today about 28 and a light sea breeze.

Smoky Jacarandas

15 Dec 2019 35 19 446
Summer brings the beautiful Jacaranda flowers, seen here with a haze of bushfire smoke. In the PiPs, a close-up of the flowers, also some of the beautiful carpet they create. We returned home yesterday as the fires now are being controlled, but they will continue burning until there is good rain - not expected before February. For now, it's a matter of remaining watchful as high temperatures and winds will create more problems and probably spread the fires (the "local" fire is about 90,000ha at present). Explored.

Frangipanni

11 Dec 2018 31 23 344
The frangipannis were in full bloom when we visited the Gold Coast. Ours will not be out for at least another month. Here's an 'Australian country music' link that more or less matches. :-) I'd like to think that Pam might enjoy this and that she is warmed and helped by the reflection of summer weather. Explored.

Poincianas - it's summer

We don't get these down where I live, but the poinciana blossoms certainly mark the arrival of summer a little further north. See also PiP. There's an obvious musical link and I hope Pam likes this. Explored.

A sign of summer

The frangipanni flowers bloom at the height of summer. Explored.

Not so forbidden

When we booked our China trip, we didn't realise it was their summer holiday season. As a result, the crowds at the Forbidden City palace were unsurprising. View large.

To boldly mow ....

Gardening enterprise. :-) One of the "joys" of summer... I'd suggest viewing on black. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Yrt9qkBQ2Q Explored.

It's not just the man in the red suit

Taken for the January 2015 monthly comp for the Prime Lenses (fixed focal length) Group, where the subject is “Close-up – Red”.... Get your entries in! Apart from the man in the red suit coming by not long ago, in the Southern Hemisphere one of the joys of the festive season is the wide array of seasonal summer fruit.
