Maloneys bench

02 Oct 2023 46 38 206
This bench is at Maloneys Beach, at the entrance to the National Park. Late additional note . This was taken on a day of strong winds, the cloud was largely formed by waves in the high level winds and had what are called 'lenticular' characteristics. Happy Bench Monday and have a good week, everyone.

Benches for all

26 Feb 2023 27 24 214
There are three benches here, which should allow everyone to take a rest. The large trees, I'm fairly sure, are examples of Moreton Bay Figs, a species native to Australfig. Happy Bench Monday and have a good week, everyone.

Track through the Murramarang National Park, with late afternoon light.

Out at Kata Tjuta

30 Sep 2021 45 42 297
One from the archives. Kata Tjuta is the Aboriginal and now accepted name for a complex which I and most other Australians formerly knew as "The Olgas", after the colonial name for a peak in the area. When travel is not confined by Covid, this is a popular tourist area. One to view large. Wishing everyone a very Happy Fence Friday and a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Golden light

Taken in our nearby nature reserve on a late afternoon "exercise" walk. Let's hope this wretched virus is soon contained - with that thought, here's a musical link. How long since you heard Jo Stafford?

Dusk

With the sunset fading into dusk, I headed back along the path near St Ives to our hotel. Today I shall be heading off again for a week and expect that I will have infrequent opportunities to be online. Have a great Easter weekend, everyone. Explored.

Through the Fern Forest

09 Feb 2014 14 21 844
A walking path in a forest reserve near on the west coast of Tasmania. Incredibly, the new Australian government has requested that 74,000 hectares of Tasmanian forest with World Heritage listing whc.unesco.org/en/list/181 be removed from the listing and made available for forestry.
