Currently flowering in my garden.

Buzzzzzz

01 Dec 2018 32 24 406
Our Lilly-pilly trees are in full flower and the bees are loving it. Best viewed large. Like the bee, I'll be buzzing off for the coming week after tonight, so best wishes to everyone until then. Explored - and home again.

More camellias

I was testing the "macro" (really a close focus) setting on a newly acquired (30 year old) lens. It did fairly well, I thought. And, of course, it needs a musical link. :-) Explored.

Pink lakeside

10 Oct 2017 12 11 679
At the drying edge of one of the Pink Lakes. The water is extremely saline (up to 800 times that of sea water) and home only to an algae which coats itself in pink extrusions to protect itself from the sunlight. The intensity of the pink seems to vary depending on the light and, I gather, is most intense in mid-late summer (about February).

Across the lake

Hibiscus flower

We were impressed by the hibiscus flowers growing in the settlement area on Lord Howe Island.

Pink frangipanni

31 May 2017 19 17 575
Lord Howe Island has a subtropical climate, helped by warm ocean currents. It was great to see these flowering as late as May, well into the southern hemisphere autumn.

Braidwood Hotel

27 Aug 2015 18 19 677
We're heading away interstate for a while and, for a time, my visits will be "occasional". On our way, we shall pass the Braidwood Hotel, carefully restored as nearly as possible to its original 1850 form (shingle roof and all). HFF, everyone.

Dahlias

Camellia

20 Jul 2014 24 25 632
The camellias are making quite a display. Taken with the SMC 1:1.4/50mm open wide. View on black. Explored.

Pink Swamp Heath

20 Jan 2014 23 21 806
These flowers were growing on small shrubs in moist areas of the Tasmanian west coast and highlands. I'm fairly certain they are Pink Swamp Heath Sprengelia incarnata . [Edit] This ID has since been confirmed through discussions with a Tasmanian plant nursery.
