fiemark on the late georgian early c19 houses along the quayside. I'm not sure what company this refers to, presumably the MC are the initials and the 1695 the date that the company was founded, so not the lion insurance company, which was late c19. there are a couple of these here.

firemarks of two insurance companies on a spitalfields house. the upper bears the three leopard heads of the arms of shrewsbury, and the abbreviation "salop"; the other is for the more common sun insurance and bears the policy number. the upper mark is made of copper, which is more common in the c19 due to the rise in the price of lead, of which the lower mark is made.
