the graveyard here is crowded with tombs in a wonderful way, an outstanding example of the aesthetic advantages of not removing all of the gravestones to produce a desert empty of interest or beauty. everywhere stand chest tombs, gravestones and memorials of all sorts, inviting historical and artistic exploration as well as contemplation of mortality. I could have spent a couple of hours here happily, had it not been pouring with rain, and my train due.
