Please ignore the roman numeral in the title. More of these may become posted at the group in no sequential order. EDIT 19.3.2015: And this is an anti bark collar, attached around dogs neck. I and when dog starts to bark, it will spray lemon smelling gas, supposedly to give a negative experience to the dog.

It is called as "milk watcher" (milchwächter, anti-monte-lait): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_watcher de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milchwächter fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-monte-lait When the liquid starts to boil, this disk starts to tremble on bottom of the kettle, making a loud noise. So, especially useful when heating milk. Not often used these days though. Here how it looks when boiling water:
