In the late 1940s, a significantly modified version of the B-29 was developed and designated B-50. One of the B-50s nicknamed "Lucky Lady II" made the first non-stop flight around the world, departing westward from Carswell AFB, Texas, and returning 94 hours 1 minute later having flown 23,452 miles. The B-50 was the last propeller-driven bomber delivered to the USAF. After being replaced by the B-47, they were relegated to other duties.
