As you can see in the PiPs, there is a Heron on the same pond as the Mallards. Apparently it stays there most of the day and catches a lot of fish! A villager told me that the drake has been seen keeping the heron well away and the chicks appear to be thriving. There are actually two Mallard families and the other group have eight chicks! I didn't manage to get a photo of them.

Warminster Park, Wiltshire ~ A Canada goose having its tail feathers ruffled by the strong wind! A pair of Canada geese in the first PiP and in the second are 3 Mallard ducks, two males and one female.

This pond is in the centre of the pretty village of Worth Matravers in Dorset. Their duck house is in the background, to keep them safe at night.

You know how ducks quacking often sounds like they are laughing....I think she was waiting for us to make a mistake in the lock :)
