HFF from Sturminster Newton Mill. A place I have often shown on Ipernity, but I hope you'll agree with me, that it's worth another look :-)

Although I have shown pictures of the cottages and well know, Mill on the River Stour, I don't think I have ever shown Sturminster Newton's High Street, so here it is. The PiP is of a very good cafe/restaurant that I have often used, but it seems they close on Mondays. Thankfully there are several more to choose from.

Sturminster Newton's Museum. PiP. I thought the barber's sign was quite amusing!

Driving by Sturminster Newton Mill, I couldn't resist a quick stop off for a walk, but it was very muddy beyond the bridge, so just took a few photos instead. It's the River Stour.

As it's quite a boring picture, I have added two photos taken from the bench, at Sturminster Newton Mill.

Hinton St Mary Church.

St Peter's Church ~ A Medieval Church was established on the site of the present Church in the 12th century. At that time Hinton St. Mary was a Lay Brothers settlement belonging to the Abbey of St. Mary in Shaftesbury. The dissolution of the monasteries around 1535 marked the end of Shaftesbury Abbey. At this time, in addition to the Church, there were three main buildings and the Manor House was subsequently built on the site of a dormitory. The Gatehouse and Manor House.

This shop has been there for as long as I can remember and a real old style newsagent/tobacconist, it stocks almost everything!

Three pictures taken in the centre of Sturminster Newton and a link to a superb video shot by CBS TV America of Sturminster Newton Mill. If you take a look view to the end...it made me laugh! www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhV-s12aZr4 The Museum.

Across the River Stour from Sturminster Newton Mill. I saw what I think is a Derek Kinzett wire sculpture along the river footpath. A nice touch, holding the bird feeder. A multi-span bridge, dating from the late C15 or early C16; widened in the C17. It has traffic lights as it is only wide enough for cars going one way.
